Digg and Del.icio.us buttons

You can now have "Add to" Digg and Del.icio.us buttons automatically displayed at the bottom of every post.

Click on the Modify Link for your blog, scroll down to "Display 'Add To' Buttons", and select "Yes".

An example of the buttons in action can be found at the bottom of this post.

Awesome, now I just hope this feature isn't abused. I know Digg doesn't look too kindly at such things.

Just out of curiosity are the Orble servers capable of taking the Digg effect?

Basically Digg.com is a website where you put links up to different sites, they get Dugg if other people find them interesting. If enough people Digg your link it gets to the frontpage where you're garanteed to get a ton of traffic, if it stays on long enough you'll pretty much match Orbles collective traffic in the period of a day, thats about 25000 hits. I kow it can go up higher than that.

Getting to the frontpage is damn hard though, so far of all the Orble blog stories I've dugg only three (or four) had any real chance of hitting the front page.

You have to be careful with your content, a lot of things simply don't appeal, especially literature. It's mostly tech, games and random trivia or American politics (namely Ron Paul and Mike Gravel) that gets to the front page on Digg.

It'll happen eventually.

Hi Brenton

The option is PER BLOG rather than PER POST. Hence the Display 'Add To' Buttons option is on the Modify Blog page. Sorry, I should have made that more obvious.

Do you think it's better to add buttons PER BLOG or PER POST?

I feel that Orble bloggers might want to add buttons to the occasional, excellent post, rather than have them there at all times...

I was wondering about this myself - but I decided most people will want to allow people to digg anything they post. But I see your point - I could make it so you can turn it on/off by Post but have the default as whatever you choose per Blog?

Whats wrong with having them on all the posts? It isn't like all the posts are being submitted just that all the posts have a convenient link to make it easier to submit.

My thoughts exactly Ahmed. Dunno, I suppose some people might not want people to Digg their posts? But in that case they probably shouldn't have posted them in the first place
