AN ART EXHIBITION & INSTALLATION ON CENSORSHIP & LITERATURE
DEFACED is an art exhibition & installation about books which have been burned, banned & DEFACED.
Australian artist JOSIE WADELTON explores this territory through a diverse range of materials, such as paintings on canvas, collages, installation, recycled books & digital images.
Wadelton's primary source of inspiration is derived from the world of European & Asian cultures. Her major influences are Surrealism & the world of cinema & literature. the works of the great English Romantic poets like Shelley, Coleridge & the cinematic works of Peter Greenaway, Dali & Hitchcock.

The exhibition will be opened by Fly-On-The-Wall Theatre actors [Christopher Pender, Robynne Kelly, Mark Taylor, Jason Buckley, Benjamin Byrne, Marc Opitz] who will perform selected extracts from books which have been banned, burned & DEFACED: Lady Chatterley’s Lover, American Psycho, Fanny Hill, Junkie, The Well of Loneliness, Lolita, Mein Kampf & more…
