Funny how we can read the same survey and come away with completely different opinions! lol

Time Mag polled a measly 9,409 people. There are over 303 million people in the U.S. The poll is hardly indicative of what the majority of Americans think.

While the three actual Newscasters in the poll are not my personal favorites...I'm sure they have a fan base of over 10 thousand people each.If those people were polled I think you would have seen an entirely different response.

The fact that Jon Stewart topped a poll of such a minute fraction of the population should not strike fear into the hearts of anyone. He has a huge following for entirely different reasons.

The poll gives us a very narrow view ,if you will. Add a few more good Newscasters and poll the entire adult population of the United States and you will actually know what the voting public thinks of the media.

I wonder what the outcome of the Presidential election would have been if only the votes of 9,409 Americans were tallied.

It's too bad CNN's Anderson Cooper wasn't one of the choices.I really think he would have garnered more votes than Jon Stewart.

Cooper would have been my pick, well above Williams,Gibson or Couric. He's a well respected journalist in every sense of the word.(and gets close to as many tweets as Ashton Kutcher...if you believe CNN hype.)

There's no doubt Jon Stewart is hilarious and informative on the politics of the day...but in my opinion he is a comedian not a newscaster.

I think the poll results reflect how weary people are of hearing news of the horrors of war, brutality and murder closer to home, and the downward spiral of the economy...to name just a few.

Jon Stewart gives the public a break from all that and produces a show that makes them laugh.

Oh YUM! It looks absolutely delicious Jason, and I like the tip on how to get the chips golden crispy! I've never heard that before but will be trying it soon.

I remember the days when we (even in Canada) used to buy fish and chips wrapped in newspaper. Now it comes in styrofoam containers...very,very bad for the environment, and not at all authentic.

Australians sound very much like Canadians!

Interesting map of Australia too. Looks like if the sharks, crocs, rays or giant spiders don't get you... cyclones or Danni Minogue just might!

Now I'm wondering if the line " Maybe the dingo ate your baby" originated in Australia?

Hi Whitney!

I saw this in the News...apparently it is all the rage in Moscow. All I can think of to say about the process is COME ON PEOPLE!!!

Why would you do that to your furry (or not so furry) friend? It is inhumane, cruel, disgusting, ridiculous...oh there, the words are coming to me now.

My big cat Babe is 15 years old.He sits on my lap and reclines his upper torso on my chest and gently strokes my face with his paw. I love him so much...it's sad enough taking him to the vet,he gets so freaked out. I can't fathom doing something this horrendous to him. I would never.

Interesting post Whitney! Let's hope what happens in Moscow stays in Moscow and doesn't catch on in the rest of the world.

I can only wistfully look back to a day when I was that young, cute and firm...and the Olsen twins were babies!

Ofcourse now I have all these cool wrinkles and saggy areas so I can't complain, really.

The twins, however, are looking quite fit and healthy.

Hi Morgan!

Ya...Hugh Laurie....yummmmm!

On a completely different note...how's the healing coming? Has the pain subsided somewhat? That first week after re-injury is the worst...hope you're feeling better!

Hi Doug,
I can't begin to fathom what this epic battle has been like for you...other than what I can garner from your writing. Still, I haven't lived it so how can I really know?

I will tell you, though, what I think of every time I see anyone descriminated against...whether it be sexual preference, race, religion, you name it.
I think of the words to the poem written so many years ago by Max Ehrmann...Desiderata.
It begins~

Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence...

Further along are the words~

You are a child of the universe
No less than the trees and the stars,
You have a right to be here...

I believe that for every man, woman and child on the planet. I wish more people did.

Oh you ARE a brave woman, Samantha Elley! 8)
I love your first sentence...had myself a little ROFLCOPTER after reading that one!

It seems so elementary school that people are ridiculed for being different.Who cares what we are, what we believe or don't believe. Let's all accept each other as human beings and agree to disagree on the rest.

As to your food post? Very interesting!! I'm going to check out that website after I pick and freeze my raspberries today. I'd be interested to try some of those recipes.

I'm with you on the bugs. Don't eat 'em...squish 'em.
