The Cincinnati Reds were 2-1 last week and are currently 5 1/2 games back in the NL Central. The Reds were led by Paul Bako with a .375 batting average in 16 at bats, 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 home run, 0 stolen bases. Edwin Encarnacion led the team with 10 hits, Joey Votto and Encarnacion each scored 6 runs, Brandon Phillips hit 4 home runs, Phillips also had 8 rbis, and Corey Patterson had 2 stolen bases.
The Reds had Edinson Volquez improve his record to 4-0. He went 2-0 last week with 17 strike outs in 14.0 innings pitched, era of 1.29, and a whip of 1.07. Francisco Cordero had 1 save striking out 2 in 2.0 innings pitched, an era of 4.50, and a whip of 0.50.
The Reds as of April 27th are 7th in the National League in batting and 11th in pitching. They need to improve their batting and pitching. Their pitching is the biggest problem right now and needs to be addressed right away in order to get back into the hunt for a play off race. Hopefully they can get it done.
The Cleveland Indians are starting to show that they do have life within themselves. Last week the Indians went 3-1 and are 2 1/2 games back in the AL Central. The Indians were led by Victor Martinez who had a .381 batting average in 21 at bats, 8 hits, 3 runs, 0 home runs, 2 rbis, 0 stolen bases. Jhonny Peralta and David Dellucci led the team with 2 home runs apiece. Jamey Carroll led the team with 3 stolen bases.
The Indians had Cliff Lee improve his record to 4-0 and Fausto Carmona improved to 3-1. Cliff Lee pitched 9 innings striking out 9 batters, had an era of 0.00 and a whip of 0.33. Fausto Carmona pitched 5.0 innings striking out 1 batter, had a 7.20 era, and a whip of 2.60. Rafael Betancourt had 2 saves for the Indians with 4 strike outs in 3.0 innings pitched, an era of 0.00 and a whip of 0.67.
As of April 27th the Indians as a team rank 13th in batting and 5th in pitching. If they can improve their batting they may be able to build a lead in the division and go to the playoffs. The bats need to keep improving and stay hot.
The Cleveland Indians
The Cleveland Indians won their game last night. Their record is now 9-12 and are 2 1/2 games behind in the American League Central. The Indians are being lead by Victor Martinez who has a .360 batting average, has scored 2 runs, has 0 home runs, has 7 rbis, and 0 stolen bases. Jhonny Peralta leads the team with 11 runs scored. Peralta and Travis Hafner are tied for the team lead with 3 home runs each. Hafner also leads the team with 12 rbis. Grady Sizemore leads the team with 5 stolen bases.
Pitching wise the Indians are lead by Cliff Lee who is 3-0 with a 0.40 ERA in 3 games, has pitched 22.2 innings, given up 8 hits, 2 base on balls and has 20 strike outs. Joe Borowski has 2 saves but is on the Disabled List right now.

Look for the Indians to get it going now that the weather is getting warmer and the ball will fly better. Travis Hafner needs to get things going in the right direction this year and Jhonny Peralta needs to keep things going with Victor Martinez. Watch out for the Indians.

The Cincinnati Reds lost another game last night. The Reds find themselves with a record of 9-14 and are currently 6 1/2 games behind in the National League Central. The Reds are being lead right know by Jeff Keppinger who has a batting average of .325 has scored 10 runs has 2 home runs has 10 rbis and 1 stolen base. Ken griffey Jr. leads the team with 11 runs scored and 13 rbis. Edwin Encarnacion leads the team with 5 home runs. Brandon Phillips leads the team with 3 stolen bases
