Men’s Apparel Sizing and Guide

Men’s Apparel Sizing and Guide

Author: ShopClues

Be it buying your apparel online or offline, size is the first thing we keep in mind while making purchases for men. Be it a formal wear, casual wear, sportswear or any other type of clothing you want to move on with- sizing and fit matters the most. We often see people making mistakes in selecting the perfect fit and sizing of apparel to suit their body type, so here is Shopclues with some tips on how to measure your body and get the clothing that fits you perfectly and enhances your personality.

1. Collar: Measure around the base line of neck where your shirt fits perfectly. Make sure there is no suspended space between the tape and neck.
2. Chest: Place the tape exactly below your armpits and measure around the fullest part of your chest. For better results, inhale naturally.
3. Back: Measure across the top curve of your shoulder from one edge to another. Make sure you’re taking the curved line and not straight one.
4. Sleeve: Keep arm at your side and get someone to measure from upper shoulder tip to the hem of your outer arm.
5. Waist: Measure around the fullest natural waistline.
6. Inside Leg: Measure inside leg from crotch till the ankle bone.
7. Outside Leg: Start measuring from your natural waistline up till the hem of your trouser.
8. Centre Back Length: Begin from the center of the collar line to your natural waistline.
9. Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips while standing straight in your natural posture.
10. Shoes: Feet should be usually measured using professional device like ‘Brannock’ or ‘Ritz Stick’. Either you borrow it from your nearest local shoe shop or get your feet measured perfectly by them.

Once you are finished with measuring your body accurately, the nest step is- what kind of apparel suits you as per your body appearance – whether it’s a shirt, t-shirt, formal shirt or a funky t-shirt. Let us suggest you some Dos and Don’ts according to your Body type to make you look your best.

Muscular Men: If you’re a brawny man having that perfect ‘V’-Shaped body then avoid wearing extra boxy clothes. Your perfect outfit is a t-shirt or a shirt that narrows at lower stomach area - waist. You can also flaunt your perfect body shape by avoiding multiple-layered or puffy clothes.

Thin: We have a solution for all those who are often addressed as thin built or slim. Look for shirts or t-shirts that are slim fit and go for turtle necks and crewed necks. Go for outfit with spread collars as they help your chest look wider. Avoid ‘V’ neckline as it shows off thin features.

Chunky: To look taller and slimmer, you best pick should be vertical stripes for shirts as well as trousers. Try to go for V-necklines as these make you look slimmer. Wear at-least waist length Shirts and T-shirts and avoid short shirts or t-shirts. Also avoid and kind of boxy designing on hips, it would make you look even shorter.

Pear-Shaped: Are you among so-called pear-shaped men? Don’t worry; ShopClues is here to help you out. Opt for darker colors while selecting trousers, such as black, navy blue or brown and boot-cut pants make you look slimmer from thighs and hips. Avoid wearing skinny outfits with jackets that end at your hips, as they flatter the pear shaped curves. Instead replace those with jackets or t-shirts with apparel that reach slight down.

Big: Wear pointed-collar shirts or t-shirts that turns focus more towards your face. Opt for 3-button blazers or overcoats instead of 1- and 2-button ones; as these makes your body look elongated and help you look taller and thinner. Keep the top button undone to help you move freely; also standing straight and wearing pants with slightly longer hems will make you look taller. Avoid wearing turtle necks or crewed necks that almost make your neck disappear, making you look shorter and thus bigger.

Some of the high-tech features found on this watch include multi-band atomic automatic time adjustment. Up to six times every day if you're in the US, UK, Germany, China or Japan. It also boasts sunset as well as sunrise data and Triple Sensor Solar technology, making this watch one of the most powerful tools for any outdoor adventurer.

Other built-in outdoor tools you can find on this timepiece include a digital compass which measures and displays direction as one of 16 points, day and month calendar and a backlit display with Afterglow technology. With a rugged and handsome Black Resin Band coupled with a traditional buckle clasp, this watch is water resistant to 330 feet (100 meters).

Casio Men's PAW2000-1CR Pathfinder Digital Multi-Function Resin Band Watch Features:

Multi-band 6 atomic timekeeping, power saving function, tough solar power

World time (48 cities), altimeter, digital compass, thermometer and barometer

12 and 24 hour formats, 1/100 sec. stopwatch

5 daily alarms, countdown timer, sunrise and sunset data

Casio Men's PAW2000-1CR Pathfinder Digital Multi-Function Resin Band Watch Reviews:

Overall this watch from Casio scored quite high on Amazon, managing to score four stars out of a possible five. With all the tools this watch has at its disposal, it most likely has more than you will need. Even if you aren't an outdoors person, you can enjoy this watch. It's a classy yet rugged timepiece, so if you like this style of watch don't hesitate to buy it.

One of the coolest reviews we found about this watch was from a reviewer who bought this watch especially for a trip to Peru and Ecuador. They said it has worked very well in addition to being fun to use!

The dual time feature has turned out to be quite useful from a practical point of view, and the elevation function works very well also. It is quite accurate most of the time. Being at altitudes in the Andes, this reviewer was often asked, "How high are we now?" At Machu Picchu they wanted to know the compass headings for the Aztec temples so they could find out how they arranged the windows and the stone compasses for solstice events. Again, they stated that the function worked very well.

You might want to take the watch off your wrist to get the most accurate temperature readings however. We found one reviewer who had some problem with moisture accumulating behind the screen after going on a number of recreational swims. After a little while the watch stopped functioning. Later on the watch partially recovered however, but all the sensors such as the compass, altimeter and barometer stopped working altogether.

Another consumer stated that the bottom line is that despite a few minor issues mentioned from people, the watch is extremely well designed and with all the features this watch brings, it's an incredible value for what they are charging for it. One thing that could be helpful would be if the watch had a button lock feature, because a few reviews have mentioned that certain buttons get pushed inadvertently, causing the screen to change to a different function.

After purchasing this watch, a few consumers made mention of the fact that some of the functions on the watch didn't work correctly, but all in all the watch has worked great for many people. With all the great tools this watch has, it's hard to go wrong with it, especially if you do a lot of outdoor activities. It looks great and should suit nearly anyone's needs.

Vintage Clothing Jumper Dress Style

December 19th 2011 08:28
Most people have heard the expression woolly jumpers. And we can all identify a dress. But to people detached from fashion or clothing, the idea of a wool dress – alternatively referred to as a jumper dress – might seem like something from a previous era. Stylish women have always thought differently, and the jumper dress can be categorised as one of those things that ought to look odd but doesn't, like turkey and cranberry.

Jumper dresses can be worn in different ways but not every outfit or situation looks right or correct – there still needs to be a little thought put in. But knitted dresses worn in the right way manage to be pleasing to the senses in ways that it's difficult to pin down. The natural flexibility of wool (perhaps with a little knitted-in enhancement) is the starting point for the success. A knitted dress is likely to hug the body form more closely than any tailored cotton number could be, if figure-hugging is the design. But acting cautiously, a looser fit can also be worn and not look to shabby.

Knitted dresses work in a very unique way, avoiding the need for add-on designs, they can be knitted into the fabric of the dress, whether it's a two-dimensional coloured affect or something that uses relief and texture to create an effect as in many knitted jumpers that feature rope-like designs. It creates authentic, designed features that really bring out the curvaceous lines of a well fitted dress. Another plus for the fashion lover is that they don't need much looking after, and will look just as good in the taxi home as they did when dressing to go out.

If you must explore the good, the bad and the ugly in the realm of jumper dresses, visit your local vintage clothing store and prepare to have your preconceptions shattered – whatever they were. Among the self-knitted and the plain gaudy, you'll find many examples of design perfection. You'll find the softest wools made with the love and affection belonging to such a sensual item of clothing. Get out there, see how one looks on you. If you're not convinced at the moment you'll quickly see what all the fuss is about as you slide into the most comfortable, flattering and easy to wear dress you may have ever owned.

While the knitted dress has certainly had its ups and downs, fashion-wise, they are hot property these days, an unlikely star of fashion shows and the international fashion scene Don't expect a minimalist, revealing style – no knitted dress could possibly sustain the structural needs of the slim-strapped evening dress or the overtly revealing looks. But as plenty of women have discovered, the gently persuasive elasticity can attract far more flash bulbs when worn well and if you have the figure to show off the dress to its best, you can't fail to wear it well because it finds its own shape the moment it's pulled on.

So sadly for the fashionistas, your secret is out, and it's time we all started to reap the benefits of at least one special jumper dress. Don't think of this as a frumpy pullover trying to be something it's not – it's a player in its own right and needs to be a component of every ladies clothing collection.

With the current economic climate the average gal has less money and less time to spend on fashion and beauty, so many of us inevitably come up with solutions to make it easier to 'keep up with the jones'. Some solutions include shopping at thrift stores in the hopes of finding the perfect vintage dress for the perfect price! Others include shopping online to save time searching in the same old, boring shopping centers! Then there are some of us who try shopping in our own wardrobes, by pulling out all the old clothes, shoes and bags that were once in fashion and trying to reinvent them by adding a pair of high waisted shorts or a flare of color! All I can say is thank god 'vintage' is in or we'd all be in a whole lot of trouble (and a whole lot of debt!).

We are constantly reading in magazines how to reinvent our own wardrobes as it is obviously the cheapest alternative and if you know how to do it right, it can be the most time effective too. Here are a few tips (in not particular order)I have learnt after many years of studying magazines and sitting in piles of my clothes wanting to pull my hair out

Getting married is a very special occasion, one that will hopefully be cherished for a lifetime. The memory of this event should be recorded to share with family and friends. One of the hardest things to do is to choose a professional wedding photographer. You must find someone who understands light and shade, perspective, getting just the right angle to make the shot stand out, and the ability to capture a human subject being, well, human.

One such group with an impressive portfolio and a really keen eye for capturing special moments is Roman Grinev Photography. Operating out of Bethesda, Baltimore and Annapolis, this team of Washington DC Wedding Photographers has been garnering a lot of praise. Getting the perfect gift for your special someone can be a harrowing experience. Clothes are difficult to gauge, and getting him or her clothes that don't fit can be really embarrassing. Electronics? Too impersonal. Chocolates? Flowers? How about a crystal figurine? Boring, been done, and isn't going to impress her.

A gift needs to feel personal, warm, and thoughtful. Jewelry is always a strong and memorable gift, especially if you can convey a sense of ownership to the receiver. What better way than to get them personalized jewelry. maxandchloe.com have a truly beautiful selection of personalized jewelry ideas to please even the most discerning tastes

Ummmm, yes. Is there something odd about that statement? I write a political blog, which should always have a snappy slogan. As to my job, I work in IT, I don't build missles.

Actually I have many piercings. I also have a high paying job with a major defense contractor. I would not have that job if I looked like these clowns. Most of my friends have piercings and tattoos, but they are all still easily recognizable as humans. The point of this article is not to disparage people with either tattoos of piercings but to illustrate that some people have strange obsessions, or a possible mental condition(such as OCD or severe depression with self-esteem issues)that lead them to do things that are self-destructive and life limiting.

Also, this article is parody. I could have written an article about how to dress and act to get a really great job, but this was so much more fun. I don't hate these people, or wish them harm I just personally think they are mildly retarded for making themselves not an oddity that would fit in well in a side-show like The Enigma or The Lizard man, but into abhorrent lusus naturae that most people would not wish to associate.

on I don't care where Obama was born

November 13th 2009 20:15
Actually, the ramifications of Obama not being born in this country could cause the collapse of the United States(not that he isn't doing a fine job of that right now.) If it is discovered that he is not an American born citizen all actions taken by the president become null and void. All loans, monetary transactions, pardons, decrees, etc...Can you imagine the chaos and devastation that would cause. For what it's worth I think he's an American and at this point let's hope that no evidence to the contrary is discovered. We don't need that kind of sh*tstorm right now.
