Dating for Dummies Tip: Be Yourself
December 8th 2011 01:58
The dating for dummies tip for today is to be you. Don’t be anyone else. Be the best you and don’t change for anyone.
When I was a kid, there was an animated commercial that used to come on in which animals of all different shapes, sizes and colors preached the message ‘Be yourself.’
It is important to be yourself so that the relationship gets off to a good start. You never want a relationship based on lies and not being you is a living a lie.
Growing up we all find someone that we would like to be and emulate. It’s just human nature. I always looked up to athletes so wanted to be like them. As we grow we begin to act and think like those we know who are older. This may include our parents, siblings and friends. This helps to make us the adults we become.
But we have to be careful and make sure that we take the qualities which best suit us and fit our own personality. I have found that in dating, when dummies like me act like someone they’re not most smart women can see right through us. They know that we’re not being real and try to get rid of us as quickly as possible.
I have found when I just relax and be me there is a better chance that the woman will show some interest. She will be more apt to want to talk and find out a little something about me.
And I feel the same when I talk to a woman. If she shows me her true personality early then I get a better sense of how I feel about her. And it makes it easier on both of us, because we can decide whether we want to become friends, begin dating or go our separate ways.
So be you. You don’t have to change for anyone. If a person wants to be with you they will accept you for who you are and not want to make you change.
In dating you don’t have to prove yourself to anyone. You just have to be you.
