I almost forgot about the whole mess revolving around GTA: San Andreas and the 'Hot-Coffee' mod which created such an outburst in the gaming industry...but finally a settlement have been made. Take-Two the publisher of one of the greatest selling games of all time, will be paying out up to $2.75 million in reimbursements for those 'affected' by this title. It sounds hilarious but its a fact, with owners of the title able to receive $35 to compensate them for the 'spoiled' version of the title they have and replace it with an edited version.
Customers of course will have to show a receipt of purchase and 'swear' to a whole list of items which show how they are affected. See the Megagames link for a full list of details regarding this list. This whole story to me is quite silly, since owners of the title need to use special codes and patches to get the 'hot-coffee' scenario working. For those who don't know what the 'hot-coffee' mod is, it opens up a adult minigame where players can perform explicit acts on a female character.
On the bright side, Take-Two is taking an initiative and showing that they are responsible for their actions and will show respect to the gaming industry by offering this settlement. Lets just hope they continue to make quality games that are not too toned down for mature gamers!

February 5th, 2008 will be the release date of Devil May Cry 4. This will be the latest installation of the supernatural gothic shooter that embraced Sony's PS2 a few years ago. Moreover, this title will now be released on the Xbox360, PS3 and PC and funny enough a film is in the works which may be released next year in the cinemas!
A limited edition version of the game will also be released and will include a bonus disc that contains the first 4 episodes of the 12 anime shows based on Dante's Devil May Cry. This is a nice little addition which will make many fans happy (and hopefully push the sale of the other volumes of the anime),
I am beginning to like the 'limited edition' versions of games these days which shows that marketing in games is becoming more popular - and pushing the price up on games too! Look at Halo 3 Legendary Edition which was sold out across the globe and sells at $300! What for...a helmet and little figurine! lol Anyways...fans were very happy and the Master Chief has come a very very long way ...some may say matching the Mascot status of Mario and Sonic.

I was not really happy with the previous 2 films based to the Resident Evil franchise (I still love the original film), but Capcom have teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment to produce a whopping 3 feature films in CG-animation. These new films will follow a different storyline to what is already released and weather or not they will hit the cinema screen or DVD-first is yet to be decided.
This is a good sign for fans of the Resident Evil series and with Resident Evil 5 to be released next year on the PS3 and Xbox 360 - news just keeps getting better for zombie fans! Interestingly, Capcom have also sold the movie rights to a few other games including Devil May Cry and a new Street Fighter film (perhaps to tie in with the new Street Fighter game?).
The first (new) Resident Evil film is set to be released next year.

Crysis is set to be released on November 16th and I predict will rival Halo 3 and Bioshock as what could be the game of the year! Nvidia's President has stated that it is the "world's most technically advanced videogame" with non-linear gameplay and a very high level of graphical elements included in the game. This is the question on many gamer's minds as Bungie Officially announced its break up with Microsoft! Bungie is now an independent developer although Microsoft is stated to still hold a minority share in the company. This is an interesting newsbreak as Halo 3 has hit $300 million in sales in its first week of release (Gamespot). [ Click here to read more ]

The rumor mill has started up yet again with Megagames stating that mole within Sony has found out that a 40Gb PS3 is set to be released at a much lower price. That price will be US$400. Moreover, the current 80Gb model (overseas) will be reduced to US$499 and the PS2 will drop down to US$99! [ Click here to read more ]

This summer, Sydney and Melbourne gamers will be treated to an Australian 'E3' event (so to say), called Game1 Expo. This event was such a hit last year, that this year the Autosalon will be held in compliment to Game1. Yep, those modified cars and hot babes will also be on show next to the new games that will head our shores this summer and into the future. [ Click here to read more ]
