damaged hard drive data recovery
So you have a damaged hard drive - why should that be a concern if you have your data backed up? OH! no back up!
Why is this still an issue?
I have spoke to a fellow today who told be its the fault of the salesman who did not tell him when purchasing his laptop 6 months ago that if it failed the store would not cover getting his data back......
If anyone out there is under the impression that a computer store or the manufacturer will come forth and pay for your data recovery - please put some thought into that. The fine print on all hard drives is that the warranty will cover a replacement drive but that the data on the drive will be your responsibility.
When asked I always say 2 working copies of your data at all times...and maybe that means another option of a copy handy for when one of the 2 fail. As Murphy's law says that on the way to pick up a back up unit the one copy you have left will fail.
Now what is the unit to rush out and purchase for this all important back up- maybe if you do not require the biggest as you only have 100GB of data get a drive that is smaller - not so cutting edge. maybe as consumers the demand should be for a lasting drive!! Slow down the RUSH to market for the largest and come back to the one that will last - We have had a 80GB drive come in worked for this person for 8 years - that was value for $$
