Hello friends,
Sania Mirza is the latest teen sensation from India in women's tennis. Last year she was ranked in thirties in the world ranking. Though now her present world ranking is 55, but according to experts she has the game and the talent to reach ie become atleat top ten player. She has revolutionised tennis in girls and especially muslims in India. She is the new of secular, progressive India. She has beaten two grand slam winners like Martina Hingis, Svetlana Kuznetsova. That shows she has what it takes to reach the top. She has a big forehand, and good basline game , takes the ball early and goes for her shots. She has improved her serve and with her doubles play improving her net play. Age is on her side. She has to improve her fitness, stamina, as she is not a natural athelete, has to keep free of injuries. Plan her schedule to avoid burnout. She has already won a WTA event in India and few doubles titles. Let's hope she can win grand slam and olympic medal and make the whole country proud of her.

In India cricket rules

October 9th 2006 13:08
Hello friends,
I am an indian. And so i should know that cricket is one sport that rules in India. Cricket is like a religion. It's a passion that drives and rules the hearts of one billion people. Sachin Tendulkar who is the best batsman in the world is a demi god here. In India we eat, sleep, breathe, drink, think, dream cricket all the time. Cricketers endorse many products as they are very popular here. Whenever indian's cricket match is round the corner, cricket fever builds up with the media joining in the fun. People gossip in offices, homes, children in schools. As excitement builds up people take leave from offices , students bunk school to watch cricket match in the stadium if you are lucky, or watch the match on television or listen to radio if nothing works. and if india wins the match it's the perfect icing on the cake.People celebrate with partying, bursting crackers, congratulating the team.

Does India lack sporting culture?

October 5th 2006 05:17
Hello friends,
I am an indian. And i truly believe we indians lack a sporting culture. In middle class indian families studies are of far greater importance than sports. So that they can have a secure and promising future. Besides how many families will take the burden of promoting their children in sports without any government help . And then there is no private, corporate funding too. Look at Australia , they have a true sporting culture and they play to win. As sporting heroes who win are admired over there. But slowly things are changing in India. There is a silver lining in the dark clouds. Tennis star like Sania Mirza, shooting world champion like Abhinav Bindra have got corporate funding. Friends whether you are indians or not please give your comments about the status of sports in your countires. Thanks.
