The Know It All - by Marcus Hill

Cuban Setback

February 25th 2013 20:23
The loud mouth speaks again and once again it cost him – just not out of his wallet.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban’s outlandish comments about how the Lakers should amnesty Kobe Bryant came back to haunt him Sunday.

Bryant went off for 38 points, 12 rebounds and seven assist. These words could not have come at a worse time.

The Mavericks are now 4.5 games back of the eighth seeded Rockets and lost an important game at home. Not that Kobe wouldn’t have had impressive numbers without the Cuban’s remarks, but Cuban added unnecessary fuel to the fire.

Earlier today (Feb 25) Cuban said that he was being hypothetical but maybe he should have said that prior to Sunday’s game.

The Mavericks could miss the playoffs for the first time since 2000 and with an aging Dirk, the Mavericks run at a title could be numbered. The Mavs have a future all-star with O.J. Mayo but they may want to consider rebuilding soon and start using the draft to help the team.

In the meantime, Mark Cuban should learn to watch what star player he talks about until his team can back up his words.
