Cry Freedom
July 12th 2007 04:29
I used to think that the extremities and rebellions that teenagers and young adults portray brings shame to the family and reflects badly on their parents and their upbringing. Even, maybe these juveniles have stumbled onto the wrong path. But now, I believe that there are those who break out solely for the faith in "freedom".
In this world where everything has to be in it's place and time and being a "good person" is defined by culture, religion and parental/family acceptance, where does the bit of individualism and existence come in?
What creates this invisible parameter, which muffles and silences our cries and defiance to be who we truly are on the inside? Why is there the need to comply and fall in line? Who gives them the right to enforce and whip us into submission?
If God created life, God surely created freedom and happiness. So what is the value and meaning of life, if it is all very much like watching re-runs on telly. We all believe and have activist groups proclaiming freedom for wild animals and creatures, surely that applies to humans to?
It has to be noted however that this is a personal point of view. A rant, if you must, on the issues at hand for me personally. I now truly feel and understand a girl I once knew, who sued her parents and took them to court, only so she could have her passport back to visit and be with a loved one. The loved one that she is now married to. At least, she is one of "us" who fought back and won. It may not be winning the entire battle but at least it was a start to regain a piece of freedom - in believing and following her heart.
I applaud you Val.
