Well Well Well, they said the opening is not working, the team is not together on the same page, Gul should bowl with new ball, they must remain orthodox, Rehman should not be dropped blah blah blah!!! All questions answered and answered with a BANGGG!

scenes after a remarkable win!

Pakistan have given the best performance of their World Cup history as they bundled West Indies for 112 and then guess what ? chased the target down by the 21st over without a wicket lost as some call this a revenge for the 1992 semi-final defeat against the West Indies where they thrashed Pakistan by 10 wickets.

It all started with the wicket of Gayle as Sammy won his first toss of the World Cup, a toss which he would have liked to loose. Gayle was removed by the third over by Gul as Afridi came into spot light very early with taking a splendid catch at mid-off.

Gayle: was a big blow for the Windies!

After that it was Hafeez, who started the bowling from the other end, very unexpectedly though. The man with the ''Golden arm'' struck twice in the same over to remove their man in form, Devon Smith, and Darren Bravo as both were trapped in front of the wicket. He was very economical too add to his two wickets.

he was very tight!

After three early blows, the experienced men from the Caribbean: Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul did grind it out for almost 20 overs but tight line and length from Paksiatn spinners did not allow them to score and finally Sarwan succumbed to pressure, playing a false shot as Lala once again provided the breakthrough. After this wicket there was no one from their team who could stand against the spinners as they merely got to 112 taht also due to partnership between Kemar Roach and Shiv Chanderpaul: who went not out on 44.

After a clinical bowling performance the openers, Mohammed Hafeez and Kamran Akmal, came in to bat with loads of confidence on their backs and bats I should say too. They provided with the best opening partnership of Pakistan's Cricket World 2011 as they crossed 60 in the first 10 overs and the West Indies bowlers, not even the over-hyped Kemar Roach, could not stop them from getting to the target in the 21st over.

113* run stand!

Hafeez backed his impressive bowling performance with his 1st World Cup fifty to ensure he gets the MOM award.

he was awesome!

Quarter-final is over and perfectly sealed and all eyes are on the India-Australia game tomorrow and the winner of that game will face the, now becoming, very dangerous Pakistani Tigers!!! Pakistan along with the whole nation is willing to face India to get a thriller out of the semi-final unlike today's game...!

But the simple phenomenon should be: let it be anyone!!! Whoever it is it should not matter and the players will giver their best shot! Afridi before the World Cup said ''my team will qualify for the semi-finals, inshallah.'' Its done but once we are there we should go ahead too as Hafeez at the end of the match said ''It doesn't matter who we face, we will do our best.''

MOHALI we are coming!!!!!!!! GO GREEN!!! GO GET MOHALI!!! GO GET the CUP!!!!!!

West Indies

vs

Pakistan

23rd March, 2011: the day marks the beginning of Quarter Final Stage of the 10th edition of World Cup. Its Pakistan vs. West Indies-the first encounter, being hosted by Sher-e- Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur- Dhaka. As usual, its a day-night match starting at 14:30 local and 13:30 PKT.

Here is a brief summary of the teams road to Quarter- Final: Pakistan (listed in group A) played 6 matches, winning 5 & loosing 1 to secure the top spot in the group with 10 points. West Indies, on the other hand, was placed in group B and after playing their 6, they stood 4th with 3 wins and 3 loses , with 6 points. As per record, Pakistan entertain itself as a tougher side than the Windies.

As the prestigious tournament went on, tensions grew as to decide which side will take on which in the Quarters. It was ultimately the last matches (Pakistan vs. Australia and India vs. West Indies) that sealed the whole suspense. Pakistani fans were desperate to know about Pakistan's opponents and in the end were relieved to know that its West Indies.

Now on a analytic note, there is no doubt that Pakistan has an edge over Windies in almost all departments. Speaking restrictedly from recent forms of both teams, it is unquestionable that Pakistanis also enjoy psychological edge over Windies. This is because they will come out with 5 victories and 2 of them will be against good sides. West Indies, unfortunately, will have to pull their acts together as they faced two consecutive defeats in their last 2 matches. Plus the fact that the Bengali crowd is expected to cheer for Pakistan, as Bangladesh suffered a mesmerizing defeat at the hand of Windies in a group match, is also going to help Pakistan. God, I feel for the Windies!

What West Indies require are the contributions made by every member of the team. Gayle and Devon Smith look threatening at the start but when they are gone, the whole team seams to shake, apart from Darren Bravo who plays very much like Brain Lara- the great and then Pollard’s massive hitting. The latest inclusion of Ravi Rampaul and Davendra Bisho (the leg spinner) has benefited the Windies but above all, has created confusions in selectors as they are wondering about which side to shape up against Pakistan.

For Pakistan, the composition is settled with the experienced Shoaib Akhter and Off spinner Saeed Ajmal being sidelined. According to experts, Ajmal needs to be in the team as he is a match-winner but for the reasons, unknown, management has not shown their confidence in him. Shoaib Akhter, on the other hand, also deserve to have a shot. Umar Akmal, who is considered to be the Inzamam of 92`, has top scored for Pakistan, making 211 runs in 6 matches. Afridi (The Captain), tops the list of wicket takers for World Cup 2011, grabbing 17 wickets and equaling the record of Imran Khan for the highest wicket takers in WC.

In this historic encounter, Pakistan clearly looks a better side than the Windies, but should not get carried away as Windies on their day can shock even the biggest fish of the lot. Hopes will be high from Pakistani fans as they want to witness their side holding the gorgeous World Cup trophy once again after 1992 and 2009 (although in T20).

GO GREEN!!! GO CRUSH the WINDIES!!! GO GET the CUP!!!!!!!

Pakistan end the JUGGERNAUT!!!

March 19th 2011 18:55
Ahhh, nothing in this world is permanent, it comes to an end at lasttt. No team could have done it better than the most unpredictable ( although their tag is in danger, courtesy: England) team in the history of the cricket world, the Tigers: Pakistan!

It was a clash of the best PACE attack of the world vs the best SPIN attack and on an equally unpredictable pitch there was no question about which one was to prevail: off course Spin! The Pakistani representers did it awfully awesome as they took the World Champions by the throat and made them choke ( no not Saffas) till they accepted defeat with gratitude.

Although there were some nervy moments as Brett Lee really made a mark with the help of the two youngsters: the ever talented Umar Akmal and the ever (although he has only few games under his belt) Asad Shafique and it would be wrong if we forget the set-up by Umar Gul and Razzler and the spinners...

I would not like to write much but want pictures to speak on my part:

I hope you enjoyed the collection of a win that means in the last 36 matches that the Australians have played in the World Cups, they have been defeated only twice and both times by the Team Green!!! It was an ''alaaaaaaaaa'' (elevated) performance by the Pakistanis except Afridi's shot of about which when asked he replied ''don't ask! don't ask!'' MAN this MAN is AWESOME!!! Inshallah he will get us the cup (Amen!).

what is left to see is who they face England or West Indies ??? Actually, let it be any!!! Tigers won't back down.......

GO GREEN!!! GO GET the CUP!!!

All the big-talks about Team Green came to an end, and what a brutal end it was, against the Kiwis! Courtesy: the all time great drop machine Kamran Akmal. But, in the end its a team game and our whole team looked rusty once Ross Taylor took off for the Black Caps.

The next stop for team Pakistan in their road to Mumbai is at Pallekele against, the once big team but now the minnows, Zimbabwe. Pakistan leads them in head-to-head record in the world cups with 3 wins out of 4 matches and 1 being washed out! Interestingly there has been not a single half-century by any Pakistani player against them in the world cups although their are 3 100s
