Welcome to this edition’s segment of “Top 10″ where we will be covering the Top 10 Entertaining Persons in the present Cricketing world.

Entertainment plus Cricket has become a corporate funda for cricket. Today we showcase the cricketing people who made a difference to TRPs and those who converted non cricketing fans to the die hard fans.

To Start with, it would be unfair if we don’t mention 3 players who couldn’t make it to Top 10 cause of their current status in their respective teams :- the tricky Freddie Flintoff, brutal Andrew Symonds and the express bolt Shoib Akthar !

So Lets get in to the real business area now…

At no.10 >>>>>>

Kevin Peterson
You Thought you bowled it right, but I will prove you got it wrong ! Thats one shock wave Kevin Pietersen sent over the bowling fraternity all around the world with his ” SWITCH HIT ” !! This SouthAfrican Born English player redefined the art of orthodox English cricket with his swash buckling innings and helped England emerge as a aggressive force on the International Scene..So KP, is deservedly in the Top 10.

David Warner
This little dynamo arrived on the International scene with a blitzkrieg 89 off 43 balls creating havoc among the Proteas attack. David Warner is a live wire on the cricket ground. Be it with his stunning shots or with his breathtaking efforts in the outfield, with him around there is no shortage of entertainment. David Warner makes it at no.9 !

Lasith Malinga
If there is one bowler who can make you dance to his tunes even on a flat surface, its the ‘Slinga Malinga’. His unusual side arm bowling action was a rage when he entered the international scene and who could forget his feat against SouthAfrica in Worldcup 2007 where he picked 4 in 4 balls in the final over of the match- where he arrived as one of the best death bowling specialists! His experiments with hairstyle is a style statement among the fans. To top it all, his bowling action forced the umpires to remove their ties and adjust to a new dress code altogether ! With Malinga on the field, its all happening!

T.M Dilshan
Inventor of the Dil”scoop” – is one of the greatest come back stories of modern cricket. His scoop shot is such a craze not just among fans but also the cricket players around the world, who every now and then try to make the Dil”scoop” work. Dilshan’s aggressive batting style made him a permanent feature of Sri Lankan cricket and is a big threat to the opposition teams. Dilshan also bowls some useful partimers and is a electric fielder. Not to mention, he is Srilanka’s back up wicket keeper. So Dilshan being a complete entertaining package takes him to no.7

Dwayne Bravo
The word entertainment is synonymous to the Caribbean, and who can stop them from entering the top 10. He bats, he bowls, he gives it all in the field… Introducing Caribbean sensation Dwayne Bravo at no.6. This cheerful player from T&T is such a TNT when it comes to making a difference to a game. His vicious slower ball or his rip off batting style holds promise. Bravo is a crowd favorite for his style statements and passionate celebrations every time he gets a wicket. His occasional jigs in T20 matchesand his crowd appeal makes him an irresistible choice at no.6.

Chris Gayle
At no.5 is the Calypso King himself –> The Gentle Giant from West Indies “Chris Gayle”. He is one of the most threatening left handed batters in the modern cricket history and his sky scrapper hits show it all. He is the 1st batsman ever to score a 100 in T20 matches and still holds the record for the highest individual score in a T20 innings. With him at the crease, no bowler or fielder can think of resting for slightest of a second in any form of cricket. His brutal hits are something crowd cherishes every single time.

Billy Bowden
Surprise!! Surprise!! But No Surprise, Billy makes it to the top charts of entertainment ! Billy Bowden redefined the umpiring profession with his unusual, at times funny and highly entertaining cricketing gestures and signals. He broke the shell of umpires being a serious souls concept and worked his way out to entertain the crowd making sure there is no moment of lull when he is around. Be it the famous crooked finger (signalling out) or the dance number six signal or be it the sensuous leg bye..therz just one word to define >> “LOL”. Thanks Billy for making cricket a better sport to watch !!

Kieron Pollard
Also known as “The Beast” – he is one brutal force in recent times, who can turn games in the span of just a few deliveries. Keiron Pollard is undoubtedly the top ranked smash hitters in world cricket. His shots clear the boundaries in no time and is known for his meaty and beasty shots which is a treat to the spectators. Not to forget his famous T20 hair style in last years Champions League ! This latest sensation is the man for the future, and club teams are already lined up to sign this wonderful cricketer.

Shahid Afridi
Introducing BOOM BOOM at no.2. This man is outright crowd favorite and the main reason he jumps up to no.2 is the ever lasting excitement in the crowd when he is at the crease even though he is not the most consistent batsman in the world. Shahid Afridi holds the record for the most number of sixers in the ODI format and his six per match average is almost 1 which is higher than any other cricketer in the world by a huge margin. This Pakistani sensation also holds record for the fastest century in ODI cricket !!

WORLD CUP 2011 – INDIA : A DREAM

November 20th 2010 06:23

From 19 February 2011, when cricketing giants come together to fight for the biggest trophy in cricket, the world witnesses the biggest festival in the ode format of the game. Every cricket playing nation is working hard to make their playing 11, and jotting down their game plan.
This time INDIA is the one of the hosts and the world cup is in the sub-continent, where Indian players have a very good record. At home the overall record has been terrific.
But what does the team have to win the mammoth event? Let’s take a quick look!

India have BANGLADESH, ENGLAND, IRELAND, NETHERLANDS, SOUTH AFRICA AND WESTINDIES in Group-B. Looks like its easy to go through to the quarters with a spot in the top four. Yet the lower ranked teams have produced miracles in the past, can they repeat them again? We should wait and see.

Bangladesh is an emerging force on subcontinental conditions

Now coming to who can serve for INDIA and how they have a chance clinch the trophy! Before the start of the tournament there are tremendous speculations among fans, selectors and administrators about the ideal combination for the Cricket World Cup squad. Each team has different strengths and weaknesses and the World Cup squad by a specific team has been selected on all these issues.

Currently INDIA, SOUTH AFRICA and AUSTRALIA have the best batsmen in their Cricket World Cup squads. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Virendra Sehwag will be a part of the Indian Cricket World Cup squad and they can pose a serious threat to their competitors.

One Last World Cup For Sachin Tendulkar?
One Last World Cup For Sachin Tendulkar?

Here are the players I think will make for the final squad for Team INDIA: MS Dhoni (Captain and Wicket-keeper), Sehwag (Vice-captain), Dravid, Gambhir, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Raina, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Praveen kumar and Ojha while probables include Laxman, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Amit Mishra, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Dinesh Karthik, Sreesanth, Ravindra Jadeja.

This is a list of the 19 probable’s, from which the final 14 can get selected. In the 14, we are certain to see the following players: Dhoni, Sehwag, Gambhir, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Raina, Harbhajan, Zaheer. So we are left with the task of selecting 3 more. And that might depend on the wicket to bat on, bowler or batsmen!!

The batsmen who have been in amazing form are Sehwag and Sachin and the bowler in his best shape is Zaheer khan. All these have excelled in this year proving that they are ready for the big game. Yuvraj and Raina have been match winners many times in odi’s and ojha is doing some magic with the ball as well. Harbhajan has come to India’s rescue recently and gambhir is slowing getting in to fulfill the place as an opener.

There is no denying- India goes in with Zaheer Khan as their strike bowler

Well, what really matters is the bowling department if INDIA really needs to excel. Leaving aside Zaheer, the bowlers have been inconsistent overall. They have hardly and rarely showed match winning performances. And INDIA is also in search of a good all rounder to play some crucial role. It is this that really worries the team as of now.

Two people who are likely to contest for this position are Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja. Yusuf Pathan makes the grade ahead of Jadeja. Jadeja is a fighting young player but Yusuf Pathan has the edge on him in sheer attitude. Jadeja lacks the raw power that Pathan can bring to bear in the slog over’s. Also his delivery style with a high arm action ensures that his bowling has a lower trajectory and perhaps a wee bit harder to put away for runs, although Jadeja has often proved a more than useful bowler. And lastly we cannot oversee Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Yusuf Pathan adds the slog power factor, which Ravindra Jadeja has to establish himself to

Too many players performing, too little consistency, a rather ‘to be strengthened’ bowling department and a good all rounder are all the problems the selectors have before them. If they can be solved the dream will surely become a reality.

The Resurgence of Match Fixing!

September 24th 2010 11:00
Apparently, England had won the last test at Lord’s. Apparently, Graeme Swann finished with a 9 wicket
haul triumphing the English win and apparently, Pakistan avoided being bundled out below 100 runs in
the second innings avoiding the record that has been unbroken since 1958. None remembered the test
