BASICS OF CRICKET BATTING

April 26th 2009 00:42
Sachin Tendulkar gets only fraction of a second when Brett Lee is bowling at him. Within that fraction of a second, he has to take a decision as to which shot to play and execute it. In the execution process, Sachin has to keep so many things in is mind. The batsman gets little more time to offer his shot while facing a spinner. But the challenges of batting against a spinner are no different than a pace bowler.

We all know how important is catching in cricket and we say “catches win matches”. A single dropped catching opportunity can very well spoil the chances of winning a cricket match. HOW THE CRICKET BALL SWINGS

April 1st 2009 15:40
Before I talk about swing of the cricket ball, I would like to give a briefing about a cricket ball. All cricket balls are made of cork and latex rubber layered with tightly wound stings from inside and with leather on the outside. The leather covering is done with four pieces of leather shaped similar but one hemisphere is rotated at 90 degrees with respect to the other. The equator of the ball is stitched with sting to form the seam with a total of six rows of stitches.

The sustained practice needs to be directional in following the established theories of the game evolved over a period of time. This is precisely the moto of this blog.
