Lose Weight Fatty

March 2nd 2007 06:14

All from my good friend, Lifehack.org ::

How to Prevent Coronary Heart Disease and Heart Attack

You should do some exercise of at least half an hour at least every second day. Condition training as vigorous walking, jogging, cycling or swimming is best for reducing the heart attack probability. Muscular building exercises are also of value, especially exercises building leg muscles

Practical Advices to Get Slim

Fat fish, nuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, olives and the like contain very much fat. But the fat is of a type that is valuable for your health. You shall therefore eat some of these food types every day, but in moderate amounts. You may however choose to increase the amount of these ingredients in your diet if you reduce the amount of bread, and other carbohydrate sources.

6 Quick Tips to Lose Weight Easily

# Watch your fat intake.
# Go easy on salt.
# Change from table butter to cholesterol free butter.
# Baking, not frying.
# Use a non stick frying pan.
# Boil your vegetables instead of cooking them.

How to Prevent Cancer with Proper Diet and Supplements

By epidemiological studies and by direct trials, much evidence has by now been gathered about the cancer prevention effects of certain diet measures, of specific food sources and of specific supplements of natural substances.

Diet And Fitness: Don't Learn The Hard Way

Lifestyle changes should be adopted slowly and carefully, otherwise the avalanche of new and difficult material will swamp you. The more changes for the better you make, the better you will feel, the more ability you will have to make even MORE changes. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that a healthy life style has been a run away snowball for me. If I had tried to make all these changes on Day 1, I would still be having Doritos and Marlboros for dinner.

Avoiding Seasonal Weight Gain

If you figure taking in an additional 148 calories per day (that’s conservative) and adding no additional caloric burn, you get a formula that packs on an extra 15 pounds every year.

Working From Home

February 22nd 2007 08:05
I've always hated full time jobs. Or maybe I've always hated bosses and managers. Either way I've sworn them off. From now on I'm Working From Home!

Wouldn't that be a good idea for a blog. I think I'll take a turn here at FatCult and write about my life working from this computer.

I've started really freelancing my writing [for money] and am at a point where I can live from it. Joooyy. Does anyone else reading here do the same? I mean, not really work?

It's the little things that make it great. I got home today at 10 in the morning. Had a coffee and a chat for an hour or so, bit of breakfast. Then turned the computer on. Such freedom is bliss.

I am, however, pretty lazy, unorganized and I procrastinate a fair bit. But it's all generally productive, so I'm not too fussed. I started a thing where I take an hour out of each day and write and record a song - within the hour. Then post it at craigchilds.wordpress.com We'll see how it goes.

I decided to do that because, [1] I hadn't made a song in ages, and [2] an hour out of my day is SO little! How can I not find the time?

But yeah, no more jobs. [well maybe the odd bar job for fun...]

Top 5 Keyword Shortcuts

January 25th 2007 04:02
In the Firefox browser there's a nifty feature that I've been utilising more and more of late [other browsers may implement this also]. Keyword shortcuts for bookmarks are a great way to 'cut out the middle man' when using text boxes on sites.

When you right click in a search box, for instance, an option will come up: Add a keyword for this search. What this enables you to do is use your address bar as any page's search box.

Instead of visiting Google.com to do a search, you can create a bookmark to the search box with the keyword 'search'. Now all you have to type in your address bar is 'search whateveriwanttosearchfor'. Get it?

But why only use it for searches? Here are my Top 5 uses I have so far...

1. Dictionary.com - use something like 'define' as the keyword.
Now I just ask my address bar, 'define irony'.

2. IMDB.com - I love movies and am constantly confronted with a movie related question. What other movies has Jude Law been in, or who else starred in Casino Royale.
Now I ask, 'imdb jude law' and get his filmography immediately.

3. Wikipedia, com - This is almost indispensable for me.
I use 'wiki anything i need to know right now'.

4. Google Image Search - I write articles and always need an accompanying image for the post. This shortcut saves me searching Google.com and then hitting the Image Tab. Visit Google and then the Image tab and add a keyword to that search box.
I use 'image beyonce'.

5. 30Boxes.com - This one is a new one for me, I recently started organising myself with this online calendar. I like 30Boxes because of the Add Item text box they have for both calendar events and todo's.

Now I use the keyword 'add' and type everything I want to add without visiting my calendar. eg. 'add visit bob at the cafe at 10am tomorrow tag bob'

This adds an event at 10am tomorrow to 'visit bob at the cafe' with the tag 'bob'. Everything is taken care of with 30Boxes' own set of shortcuts.

Are there any other like that that aren't just shortcuts to searches?

Also try: tech for Technorati, discog for Discogs.com; plus ANY site you frequently do searches on.

Out with MTV Flash - In With HTML

January 9th 2007 01:19
I regularly visit MTV.com to get news content for another site but am constantly at odds with the bloated flash interface they implemented a few months ago. It really put a dent in publishing time when I had to quote from that site.

But today I found something great. While looking at the bottom right corner of the flash driven site, I see a little button that says 'HTML SITE'. What's this

The Imperials - Can You Imagine

December 13th 2006 04:08
I recently put on the Daft Punk DVD, Interstella 5555, and thought I'd post about one of my favourite tunes off their album, Discovery, for motivation. Because I need it!

The song Crescendolls samples this track by The Imperials, a 1950s doowop band that turned a little funky in the 60s-70s. I'm talking about the 'chorus' that Daft Punk use all throughout their song, when it hits the second time on Can You Imagine, it's really special

Karen-O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Karen-O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

From the upcoming Jackass 2 soundtrack comes this little ditty coupling the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen-O and electroclash's own, Peaches. The track comes off almost exactly what you'd expect mashing the not-so-different styles of these two performers

I was watching a doco on Jimi Hendrix and at the credits they played a solo-guitar version of this song, so I had to track it down.

No vocals, just gentle Fender

John Zorn recieves $500,000 Grant

September 21st 2006 12:26
Pitchfork reports head of Tzadik Records, and complete legend in my book, John Zorn was one of 25 recipients for the 2006 MacArthur Fellowships, known as the 'genius grants'.

What he's entitled to is $500,000 over a period of 5 years to use however he likes. Hopefully it will go straight into his label.

Stampin Ground split

September 21st 2006 10:37
Basically my favourite British thrash/hardcore band have called it quits.

"We slogged our hearts out for 11 years; harder than any band we've ever met, and we loved every minute of it. It's been the greatest ride and were proud to have been part of it, but all good things come to an end and so has SG. This has nothing to do with musical differences, personal stuff or any other lame ass excuse you've heard a million times, truth is we just feel the time is right to hang it up. We never set out to win the world title, we just wanted to go the distance for 15 rounds and get some good punches in

New Death By Stereo Video

September 20th 2006 07:38
Wow. A whole year after the release of their Death For Life LP, Death By Stereo have put out a video for the song, Middle Fingers. Check it out here [Quicktime].

They're also getting their original drummer back in the gang for their upcoming album. Hopefully he brings them back to harder territory

on Out with MTV Flash - In With HTML

MTV.com is particularly bad as well, because each page loads a video; the scrollbar is flash - with frames - and you can't Control C text.

It's not even very fancy, which makes it worse. Not a lot that can't be done in HTML anyway.

Great interpretation of the novels. It's on some Harold & Maude tip yeh? I think casting has to be applauding on this one, each actor was perfect for their roll.

Groovy.

on Movies & the Meaning of Life

September 21st 2006 13:10
Deep thought aside, this is a favourite of mine. One of those movies I can watch again and again. Bill Murray does that to me sometimes.

That was probably the one thing I've disagreed with Camus about: the importance and urgency in finding the meaning of life.
