Cottage Industrious

With the Christmas Twilight Fair approaching, and the Girl Guides stall to cater for, I just didn't feel the urge to bake again. I'm not sure what prompted the lavender filled heart sachets, but making them has become an addiction. Maybe it is the effect of a kitchen filled with the aroma of lavender, or that in a short space of time you have something to show for your efforts. Whatever the reason, these hearts have been very gratifying to produce and I think I'll be dotting a few amongst my coat hangers as well.
If you feel inspired to make some, simply use a heart shaped template and cut two pieces. You'll also need an approx 19 inch length of satin ribbon. Stitch the ribbon (doubled over) to the front of one heart piece. Place both hearts right sides together and stitch around leaving an opening for turning and stuffing. Turn heart right side out and fill with lavender. Slip stitch the opening closed. If you plan to decorate the front with either buttons or embroidery like mine, you'll need to do this before you join your heart pieces.
Equally enjoyable has been the construction of this beach bag a friend requested. These fabrics work very well together and the finished bag looks like this:
I now have two more to make, in different colourways, and they are on the drawing board for the next few weeks. Here is a sneak peek of the fabric I'll be using:
I'll keep you posted.....
