Why Sky is Blue?

November 24th 2006 14:57
The sky is blue because of the phenomenon called the ‘Tyndall effect’. This is the scattering of light, as it passes through particles in suspension. Due to its short wavelength, the elements in the atmosphere happen to scatter blue more than any other colors.

When the sun is shining down on the Earth, most of the other wavelengths or colors travel in a relatively straight line. The Sun appears white because it contains almost all the visible colors. The rest of the sky appears blue because we are seeing the blue light that has been scattered by the atmosphere

THE 'CON' FOLDER

November 21st 2006 15:49
The word "con" is an abbreviation for "console". Depending on what you are trying to do, e.g. program the creation of a folder called 'con', you may get an error. This is because 'con' is a reserved name for writing to an output reserved for the console, typically the operator's screen.

It is a special name in MS-DOS and Windows – one which refers to the system console. If a console application writes to the file "con", whatever is written there will appear on the screen. It is roughly equivalent to the special file in UNIX. Since it is a special file name, it already exists – and if it exists, you cannot create it – neither as a file nor as a folder. Other such special names are NUL, LPTn and COMn (where "n" is a digit). They refer to the "no device" (dev/null in UNIX), the printers and the communication ports respectively.

RICH BRATS AND THE LAW

November 19th 2006 05:37
This is a very sensitive but subjective topic. If you practice law you will come to know that there are 101 ways to get your-self out of any crime because there are clauses which mean nothing but everything. Today in India the crimes performed by the so called Rich Celebrity Kids are being brought to the limelight mainly because of the Media. These days it is getting difficult for these rich brats to find their way out of any wrongful doing.

Unfortunately, that can be true. There are people who somehow think by their own that they deserve a "break", because they are famous. Then of course there are those who are really tough and throw the book at them. If they break the law, they should be treated the same as normal person. Cops are usually decent and if you are a decent person, they pick up on it, and often cut you a break if it is a minor offense such as a traffic ticket. It all depends on the individual

November 5th 2006 12:33
GPRS: It is called as General Packet Radio Services. It is the service for cell phones promoted by Vodafone that carries all messages in digital form at a much higher rate than the standard digital cell phone messaging bandwidth. It is promoted as a next-generation mobile internet service. Its charges are based on amount of data used and not on amount of time spent. It is often described as “2.5 G”, that is, a technology between second (2G) and third (3G) generations of mobile telephony. It provides moderate speed data transfer by using TDMA Channels in GSM Network.

CDMA: It is called as Code Division Multiple Access. It is a technology for digital transmission of radio signals between mobile telephone and a radio base station. In this technology the frequencies are divided a number of codes. Hence it is a digital cellular technology that uses spread-spectrum techniques. Individual conversations are encoded with pseudo- random digital sequence. It consistently provides better capacity of voice and data transfer than other technologies. It is the common platform on which 3G technologies are built

XENA vs. PLUTO – A CONFLICT

November 2nd 2006 14:55
The entire universe was stunned on August 14, 2006. On that day, which was considered one of the unformal decisions of the Internation Astronomical Union (IAU) to demote the planet PLUTO from our solar system. The real culprit behind this was the discovery of another celestial body named XENA. Xena was bigger than Pluto and non-spherical, so the planet Pluto had to make its way. This dilemma between these two celestial bodies made the IAU take a very tough decision to demote the planet Pluto. Ironically, the IAU was the body that deemed Pluto as a planet in 1930.

Now, what is a ‘planet’? Planet is nothing but the celestial body with a remotely spherical body, and which revolves around the Sun and possess a certain volume. Considering all these factors, Pluto cannot be called as a planet. This demotion of Pluto was due to the fact that it failed to meet all the criteria specified to be classified as a planet. The primary factor was that it lacks gravity to clear a path in its orbit. Hence, with all these calculations our dear planet is termed no more
