It seems that the battery in my digital camera is finally giving up so I have to buy a new one. With that in mind I thought that I'd check out the Jessops website and see the cost of one and use the birthday money I've been given to buy a new one (oh yes it's my Birthday today by the way *smiles*). While on their website I notice that it's National Photography Week. All of this week they've had a different day for a different category in Bob's Challenge or there's a general competition Celebrate Summer for the whole week for a years worth of free photos (although I have just been bought a brand new printer so don't really need this but hey photo paper is costly!).

For a laugh I thought I'd enter the Celebrate Summer competition. To enter you simply just pick your five favourite photos that represent summer to you and enter. Easy. Well not quite... I can't narrow it down! Arrrgggghhhh!!! I've got it down to six photos so I thought I'd ask the lovely people of Orble for their input, if they don't mind

Are you asleep little bear?

Each night I will read one or two stories to Callum in his bed while he drinks his milk. Normally we will take it in turns to choose the books, one night me, the next night Callum, this way I avoid every single night having to read a Thomas the Tank Engine story which I can assure you is not fun! *laugh* After the stories are finished Callum and I will have cuddles and kisses and then after an eternity I'll escape. The last couple weeks Callum has asked if I'll leave his mini Thomas the Tank Engine books on his bedside table so he can read them, which I have no problem with. I'm a firm believer in children appreciating and having a love for books and I'm more than happy to encourage this with Callum. Sure he can't properly read at the moment but he's heard the stories enough times to know what happens in them and a lot of the time he makes up his own little story which is just the cutest thing to hear and to me channels that huge imagination he has. Also added into the reading Callum will sing, it'll be anything from Twinkle Twinkle to the Alphabet song (which at the end he congratulates himself on doing a "good job"). And then eventually he is asleep. When it goes all quite in his room either Daz or I will check to (1) make sure he's ok and (2) to see if he is asleep.

So last night was the same bedtime ritual although even though it was my turn to choose two stories somehow I got shepherded into Callum choosing one and I choosing one, which didn't even get read in the end. Callum chose surprise surprise a Thomas story

Playing Around with Photoshop.

On our current laptop we haven't gotten around to getting Photoshop so last night we signed up for a free trial of the latest version to have a play around with. I don't remember much about Photoshop from when we previously had it so it's like starting all a new. So far I'm loving it, but will have to find a guide as to what is what.

Here's an example of what I did last night. The photo was taken round my parents the other weekend not long after we'd all had a big water fight. You can see some of the little droplets of water on the flower
