Cars

December 28th 2006 09:41
Please bear with me as I'm not very good at writing film reviews/blurbs but I'm going to try my best.

Cars, what can I say about this film? Beautiful to look at. Catchy songs to hum along to. Fun little jokes for adults. A love story. A story of friendship. And most important of all (well maybe only this is true for my three year old son) is the fact it has in it CARS

Have you seen that television programme (I think it's a BBC production) called Worst Week of My Life (Your Amazon Link)? Well to an extent that has been this past week or so in our household. It started the other Sunday (17th I think was the date) and our boiler making a funny noise. Then the stupid thing went and broke... and then started leaking. My husband is the least DIY minded man you will find (unlike his father), he once put a nail through a gas pipe which luckily had been capped off so no gassing us to death, but yes that sums up his DIY skills. We couldn't work out where the water was coming from so had a mad quick panic call to Super Father-In-Law who promptly jumped in his car and drove down and eventually stopped the leak. Well that was just the start of things.

They say these things always come in threes, well I think that's a big fat lie! The boiler got fixed so we at last had heat and hot running water after two days of none. You'd think that god would think that was enough to drag us through but oh no. What else has happened I hear you ask? I shall list

Now Lets Write A Story

December 1st 2006 11:07
Last year while I was posting at a message board I visit I came across mention of NaNoWriMo and after reading up about it on the site thought it could be fun to try. I've never been a writer, I find it hard to put my thoughts into words. Even at school it was always said that I had great imagination but just lacked the skills to write them down. So the challenge was on. I was going to write a novel... well try to.

At the time my husband and I were having problems getting our son to sleep, screaming matches, gates being pulled off from the wall by him and frequent visits from him during the night. Exhausting work and I feel for any parent that went or goes through what we did (and still do to an extent). I've always believed in reading to my son from and early age and so thought that maybe I could write something for the NaNoWriMo that could afterwards to read to Callum
