Hot day In Christchurch,NZ

January 28th 2007 07:40
Hi all

Well sad to say that's all for now regarding the adventures of Sarah, Hallion, Falte and Saxon but who knows if I get enough feed back or a publishing deal lol, then I will write some more. Anyway been a damm hot day, about 24-26 deg I guess and I felt pretty tired after the ride yesterday, hmmm been looking on the map and we will have to do some huge days for the ride but sure if will be fun!!

So thought I would spend the morning in the garden, as due to the rough, wet weather we have had lately, it was looking a bit sad. Started by transplanting two small bushes, which had been placed in the wrong place, no sun and under the eves of the house. Hmm don't know if they will survive or not but thought worth a try as don't like digging stuff out unless I really have to.
To give some idea of what the garden looked like when I moved in.

Welcome to the Jungle

Still got some work todo but this is how it is looking so far but guess I will in time take most of the plants out by the house and put stones down.

But it was nice to get the garden looking tidy once again as like to keep everything nice.
What else, oh been watching an interesting dvd series called The Long Way Round and it stars Ewan (jedi) McGregor and Charley Boorman and it's about their trip from UK across Russia and then through the states to New York and wow it really makes you want to do something like that, although guess it helps being famous and having a camera man on a bike with you, plus support trucks a day or so behind all the time, but still awesome anyway!!

Spent a couple of hours editing chapter 3 of the Chronicles of Lamora also, so that was pretty productive and listened to The Best of Sarah Brightman mix, really good, especially Scarbrough Fair as haven't heard that since I was a kid although no idea who sung it then?

Hmmmm work tomorrow, would rather be writing!
Just looking forward to when I get my digital camera as got another great idea for a new blog, which will just be photos. So will update everone when that starts and currently trying to sort out a domain name too, so will update on that also.

Well, both cats are sound asleep so will have to put up with my thought of the day again.

Swept from the Sea continued

As the moment was lost, with Sarah looking disappointed, Hallion gave her a reassuring look before whispering ‘Thank you’ just as Becky drew close to them both.
Sarah noticed her friend giving him the once over, so she quickly introduced them to each other

Cycle training and general chit chat

January 24th 2007 08:35
Hello all

Hope you are enjoying my Swept from the Sea story? Bit of a quiet day at work really, seems like a really long week so far. Read a weird article in one of the womans mags in the time out room. About this bloke who has 5 life size female dolls at a cost $12,000 each, he dresses them up and likes them better than real women as they don't answer back

Jenny's Story 'Swept from the Sea'

January 22nd 2007 08:47
Hi all

It has been a cracker day in the garden city, guess about 28-30 deg, very warm. This evening I cycled home, had dinner and then went for a ride to Evans Pass, which is through Sumner and on the way to Lyttleton. Took me 50mins and about 20kms although hill was bit of a grind, so with 40kms tonight and 10 each way to work, that's 60kms today. Quite windy in places too and feeling bit tired now too

The secret lives of my cats

January 19th 2007 09:01
Have you ever wondered what your pets might get up to while you are at work? I hadn't given it much thought until the other week when I came home to find a rates bill, that I had left lying on the dinning room table chewed, shredded and scattered across the floor.
'What the?' I asked my self and I don't think the woman at payments believed me when I said my cat did it, as I presented what was left. I have a pretty good idea as to which one it was too!

'What the hell?' The leader of the marines asked in suprise as automatic gun fire continued before ordering two of his team down the stairs. 'Stay frosty and shoot anything that moves' he told them as they went through the doorway.

Now you might be wondering about that title? Well let me explain for any newcomers to my blog. I am writing a fantasy trilogy and it's bit of a labour of love really as been writing on/off for last 7 years, but I am still as focused now as I was when I started and guess so far I have about 150,000 words written. Although big problem is apart from chapters 1&2 they all need to be edited.
Anyway I like to know what I am writing about and more the case, feel and experience things if possible that will help me write better. A while ago, a friend of mine said she would teach me to ride after I had helped her out ( she had been kicked in the knee by a horse, which should have alerted me).

Eco Houses & Global Resource Conflict

January 9th 2007 08:33
Hi again

Today saw an interesting article on the BBC News website regarding Eco Houses, in which artist Claire Bull lived 9 months in an enviromental show home in Leicester, UK. Now one of the many great features it had was a solar thermal system which provided over 50% of the energy needed for water heating

Thought I would comment on the latest instalment of the James Bond franchise. I had heard about the new actor Daniel Craig, the good reviews and the not so good ones too. It seems there is a website called Daniel Craig is not Bond or something like that

Hi again everyone

Since I wrote that piece about Marcus, I kept thinking about how the name seemed familiar somehow? Well would you know it, I was reading a copy of Empire movie mag dated Nov 2005, a friend is moving and had a clear out, so I was lucky enough to receive a big pile of various movie mags

StarWars and the Subway Hero

January 5th 2007 09:04
Greetings fans and fellow bloggers

I feel I should make a mention regarding a guy called Wesley Autrey, he's the chap who dived onto a subway in New York to save a man who had a seizure and fell in between the rails just as the train was coming into the station. I know this has been on the news somewhat but felt it was still worth a mention. All I can say is what a great unselfish act which resulted in a son being reunited with his parents and good on him for being in the right place at the right time and also being modest with it. Nice feelgood story to start 2007 with

Shark Attack and Mobile Phones

January 4th 2007 09:00
Hello again
A piece in todays Christchurch Press caught my eye, which for people who live outside of NZ, it can be seen under The Stuff NZ website under newspapers hopefully. It is titled How It Feels and today is about what it is like to be attacked by a great white shark!
Allan Oppert reveals what it was like and I was amazed and also at the same time thinking rather him than me. Well worth reading but to cut it short, Allan survived although the shark did bite him above the knees and he admits that when he felt the sharks teeth upon the bone, it hurt just a tad, so he is there with his legs in the sharks mouth and face to face with it's massive head, which left him thinking, this isn't good

Marcus Aurelius

January 3rd 2007 19:55
Well this was almost the blog that never was as I was going to post this last night but spent almost an hour stuck in a groundhog day situtation. As my computer either couldn't find the server or when it did, and I logged in, it just flicked back to another log in page, all very annoying when you have that muse to write so gave it a miss and thought I would try again today.
Now you might be wondering about my post title? Well thats good as I guess you are thinking who is that? Before doing a Google search on him. To tell the truth, I don't have too much of an idea either at the moment as I had never heard of him before last week. But here is the strangest thing, that other book I was reading by Colby Buzzell, My War. One of his officers gave him a book to read based on the writings of Marcus Aurelius and since I have an interest in history, it sort of stuck in my mind.

Writing and the weather

January 2nd 2007 07:48
Hello again

If you live within NZ, then you will know that the weather has still been shocking, well in the South Island anyway. This morning should have done some painting with a mate, but it rained on/off all morning so once again didn't get much done grrrrrrrrrr!! This arvo did a short story for my writers group next meeting. We are a group (3) in number of aspiring authors who meet up once a month to encourage each other with our labours of love
