Common Flaw Behind The Crashes
August 8th 2009 20:44
When an airliner has a serious crash the investigation centers on the following, according to Boeing:
More than half of all serious incidents are down to 'flight crew error'.
A sixth are caused by mechanical faults, 13 per cent by the weather, and the rest by factors such as terrorism, air traffic control problems, bird-strikes and poor maintenance.
Lately there have been high profile Airbus crashes with casualties. Take the Airbus A330 Air France aircraft that went down on its flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. These planes have enough safety equipment in the cockpit to alert the pilot of all changing conditions. Perhaps to much equipment which may make the pilot feel a bit more relaxed than they should.
It is starting to come more to light that modern aircraft may make pilots not be prepared to use basic emergency training for piloting aircrafts.
This is a study that is just coming to light. That may be a common flaw to most of these current near misses, but the article provides more information and even gives you some survival techniques.
