Clover Kids

For a long time I had been concerned at the number of children roaming around my street at night. I prayed many times about them and felt helpless as to what I could do. My own four children were the priority.
It was not until Hine came into my life that things began to happen. With the stability that she brought with her, there was now a balance in our family. I have always been very staunch about family devotions and Hine added to this in her own special way.
What began as family devotions snowballed to 300 kids? Here is how it happened. The children in our blended family became interested in bible readings. So much that they asked, can their friends come and hear. We said yes and before we knew it, their friends invited others who passed the word around.
Next thing you know we were taking the furniture out of the living room to accommodate them. Before long, we moved down to the local school and hired out a classroom. The local businesses supported us as well. The baker gave his unsold product to us, things like buns, bread, cakes and pies. One local toyshop gave unsold stock as prizes.
During the winter months, Hine and I would often go looking for puha to make soup. A delicacy, which grows wild and is very much like spinach. This particular time we were not having any success. Then I saw two fantails flying in a circle. Having nothing to lose we walked over to where they were. As we got closer, they flew away. We followed. These two small birds led us out of the park and across the road.
We were now a long way from home but kept following. We were now in the midst of an upmarket suburb. Still we followed. In the midst of this area, the two birds stopped over a vacant section. In this place, we just marvelled at so much puha and the goodness of God.
