Civony was the original name for the blockbuster MMORTS free browser game from UMGE that eventually took on the final release game name of Evony.
Its unknown whether the name change from civony to evony was forced due to its conflict with Sid Meiers Civilization or something similar.
Regardless, the online gaming community has certainly thrown open their arms hearts and wallets to Evony (optionally pay for play through game coins)
Recent upgrades to the gaming servers now see up to 12 online servers for the free browser game (up from 9) which should really improve the speed of gameplay and get rid of a lot of the lag that has been frustrating some gamers.
