Honestly, I can't believe she'd marry such a cretin. You're supposed to get over the "bad boy" phase and marry someone with a little respectability!
Kate Moss is expected to marry Pete Doherty this week in a civil ceremony in West London.
Doherty, 27, has invited members of his band, Babyshambles, to witness the ceremony at Fulham Register Office - chosen as the couple's venue because of its proximity to the home ground of the singer's favourite football team, Queens Park Rangers.
One source said: "Both Kate and Pete have invited close friends and family to meet them there on Friday.
"There's been a bit of a tussle over the guest list, which is small because Kate is concerned that some of Pete's hangers-on are bad news, but he's determined to have his mates there."
An extended group of friends and family have also been asked to fly to Ibiza for a lavish celebration of the marriage on January 18.
One friend close to both said: "Kate and Pete will travel out to the island a couple of days ahead of the party, in time for her 33rd birthday on January 16.
"Everyone else has been told to get there on the 18th and lots have already booked their flights."
It is understood that part of the celebrations - which will stretch across the weekend - will take place at the island's hedonistic Manumission Club.
"The marriage and belated celebrations mark the end of a five-month engagement.
The couple met at Kate's 31st birthday at her home in Primrose Hill, North London, where Doherty presented the model with the lyrics to his song, What Katie Did, written on an envelope and framed. They started dating soon after.
The register office ceremony will set the seal on a relationship dogged by scandal and drama.
It remains a source of some concern for Kate's mother, Linda, and Jefferson Hack, father of the model's daughter Lila Grace, five.
Only three weeks ago Doherty, who has struggled with drug addiction, was present when actor Mark Blanco plunged to his death at a drug-fuelled party at an East London top-floor flat known as the "Hotel in the Sky".
It was the latest in a long line of scandals for Doherty this year but court appearances, nights in cells and enforced rehab have done nothing to diminish Kate's ardour.
A source said: "Kate's mother, Linda, is deeply concerned.
"She's the one who suggested to Kate that she should at least draw up a pre-nuptial agreement.
"She thinks Pete's a freeloader and she's not alone in her view. But Kate won't hear anything against him.
"She sees them as a modern-day Marianne Faithfull and Mick Jagger.
"She says they're 'star-crossed lovers' and says that what is so special about Pete is that he sees the beauty inside her."
