Child Abuse- How can we help (LINK)

Recently i read this book titled Deliver me from Evil written by Alloma Gilbert. It was the most heart wrenching novel i have read in a long time. It a novel written revealing the true events of torture surrounding her entire childhood.
Since then i have become interested as to how many children actually suffer from child abuse. It is such a hard concept to grasp that there are actually young children that suffer from such sadistic forms of torture. Unimaginable forms of torture, for example have their toes beaten with metal rods until their fragile bones are crushed. Or being forced to eat animal feces, or having to eat pounds of solid fat rather than food. Or being locked in dark closets for months on end and fed only their own waste, while naked with nothing to shelter them from the cold. See what i mean, unimaginable.
I cannot understand how this could be happening. Child Abuse is not always in the form of extreme measures either. Just the smallest insult can damage the self esteem of a little child.
Someone once said that each time you insult or hurt your child you are taking a piece of them away until there is nothing left. It is a selfish act and cannot be redeemed. Its an imprint embedded into their soul, and will always exist.
So i want to use this blog to reach out to anyone who is interested. How can we help to stop this from happening. Well i think it stems from each individual. Think about who you are and how you have been affected emotionally by an insult. I also want you to think about physical abuse. Have you ever dealt violent behaviour or been on the recieving end of it. This is how it stops, acknowledgement and compassion.
