These easy cheesy bread sticks taste wonderful by themselves or try them dipped in warm marinara sauce.
If you can't get to Cici's to savor their cheese bread sticks, try my easy cheesy bread sticks at home. You won't be disappointed. These are delicious.
What is needed.
* a shallow pan, suitable for baking
* pastry brush
* rolling pin
* plastic wrap
* 1/2 package frozen dinner rolls thawed (any brand)
* 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
* 1/2 cup melted margarine or butter
* 1 tsp. garlic powder (more or less, depending on your taste)
* 1 tsp. dried parsley flakes
* small amount of flour
Place the thawed dinner rolls onto a floured surface. Kneed just enough to form one solid ball of dough.
Using the rolling pin, roll the dough to match the shape of your pan, making sure the rolled dough is slightly smaller. This allows room for the dough to expand as it rises.
Coat the bottom of the pan with a small amount of melted butter, using the pastry brush. Place the bread stick dough into the pan.
Brush 1/2 of the melted butter across the top of the bread stick dough. sprinkle the garlic powder evenly over the top of the buttered surface and sprinkle with dried parsley flakes. Loosely cover with plastic wrap.
Place the pan of bread stick dough in a warm, draft free area to allow to rise. This takes about an hour. When the bread stick dough has roughly doubled in size, it is time to proceed.
Gently remove the plastic wrap. Sprinkle the 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the bread stick dough. Drizzle the remaining butter over the top of the cheese.
Place the cheesy bread sticks into a pre heated 425 degree oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Watch the cheesy bread sticks carefully. You don't want them to over bake or the cheese to scorch.
Remove from the oven and cut into sticks. Serve warm.
