Ramble On - Or How I Get Through This Life

Cheers to Christmas: Songs of the Holidays

December 22nd 2007 08:25
Today I was contemplating my commitment to holiday cheer and reminiscing about ghosts of Christmas past. I am reminded of parties I attended and grazing by the cheese cubes, beanie weanies, room temperature bagged shrimp, and boxed wine (none which make for a silent night). December can mean lots of errands, parties, dinners, plane trips, car rides and general hullabaloo. The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of the year. Put down the cell phone, turn off the laptop, take a break from the holidaze, and join me in celebrating with some holiday music that might help you maintain that holiday cheer in the midst of the mayhem.

Some of my favorite Christmas CDs:
10. Horny Holidays: Mojo Nixon

9. Charlie Brown Christmas

8. Vienna Boys Choir Christmas

7. Boogie Woogie Christmas: Brian Setzer

6. Raffis Christmas Album: Raffi

5. A Swinging Christmas: Ella Fitzgerald

4. White Christmas: Bing Crosby

3. Ultra Lounge Christmas Cocktail

2. Christmas with the Louvin Brothers

1. Its Christmas Man: Brave Combo

I guess you've just about covered it Mis, so Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Well done.

Hey Mis

A bit of a Christmas eve tradition at the palatial Nice Guy ranch is playing Christmas 78's on our old HMV gramophone - which of course has to be cranked.

The steel needles get a work over (given each needle is only good for 10 songs before they have to be replaced).

It's something we look forward to every year since the kids were little enough to remember and the evening always wraps up with Bing Crosby and Silent Night.

With just two more sleeps to go - everyone from the Andrew's Sisters to Mr Crosby himself is finding it hard to contain their excitement.

A Very Merry Christmas to You

sweet list...

my favourite is an odd one...I loved the Boney M Christmas album

My dad would play it during the holidays, and it was the only music upbeat enough to keep me awake.

Feliz Navidad

Ha!
