The allure of food network

May 1st 2009 19:43
This is what my life has come to. I have spent the past two days sitting here with friends watching the food network. Weird? Stupid? Waste of time? Yes, to all of the above. During this time, the food network has served as the "background" for my reading of...*cough*...the last Twilight book. Which I just finished. Thank you very much. With that aside, back to the food network. My other two friends, however, had their main focus on the various programs on the food network. I couldn't understand why they would want to watch this ridiculous channel devoted only to watching people cook shit. My buddy claims that he enjoys cooking and finding things that he might want to cook. His response interested me. What made watching chefs cook food to find possible dinner plans better than searching for recipes online? I guess we respond to personalities (because believe me most of the people on these shows had big personalities) and the pictures of the food on the boob tube. I must add that there isn't much on tv during the day other than the food network crap and soap operas. To be serious, the food network does not give me the desire to want to cook, rather to go out to eat.

You may be wondering why I would be wasting days away like this anyways. Well, honestly, I don't have many better things to do. I probably should be doing something productive, but the lack of pressure to do something now makes it easy for me to just sit here, read twilight, watch the food network, and type a blog. Did I say I am doing this for the money? That means, people! please! start! reading! this! awesome! shit!

Good frickin question. Honestly, I am in it for the money. Even though I receive, on average, three hits a day on this blog, I think it could make me famous. Like Winston Churchill once said, "A man with a blog is a man with great destiny." About destiny. It is an interesting concept. Destiny almost scares me because it makes my life seem predestined. Do I have really any choice of what will become of me? If it is already known, what decisions could I make that could change that? The answer is none. That's kind of an awful feeling. I really can't change my outcome. I can perceive what my outcome might be and try to alter it, but the alteration was really what my destiny had laid out for me. Crazy shit, I know. I am losing my ability to think coherently when I am talking about this stuff. Which brings me to my next point, don't do crack. I guess that jokes not that funny if you haven't seen the movie. oh well, but seriously, I wouldn't advocate anyone trying crack. I don't know if anyone who has ever done crack can honestly say that smoking the drug was a good decision for them. I guess that brings us back full circle with the decisions and destiny discussion. People don't choose to do crack. Destiny forces them to.

Swine Flu

April 28th 2009 01:06
Is this an overreaction by the media? Will this really cause the economic downturn to down turn even more? Swine flu is killing people in Mexico, but I don't think there have been any cases of deaths in the U.S. There is bound to be some more deaths around the world from this disease, but how widespread can this thing go? It seems as if the world has been able to meet health threats with great coordination and success (SARS and bird flu). Could this be the exception, or will health officials be successful again? Along with the rest of the world, I do hope they stop this from spreading too much further. Because yes, a large outbreak would send the world into a deeper recession.

Good news today. I won a million dollars. April fools.

More good news today. A friend of mine got invited to the Bengals mini-camp this weekend. Not April fools.

Finally, I am trying to find a girlfriend. Anybody have some tips for me? I think I am a pretty good catch (or at least my grandma says so), but I don't know how to settle down, or I guess settle on one that I really like. Ya know what I mean?

Rush Hour

April 23rd 2009 00:52
What happened to Chris Tucker? I am sitting here flipping through the channels, and what do I see? Rush Hour! I watched it for a couple of minutes...err.. like 25 minutes and wondered out loud the question I asked at the beginning of this post. So, I went to my faithful friend google, and it took me to wikipedia. Did you know that Tucker actually got paid 40 million dollars to do Rush Hour 3? That is absurd. Absolutely ridiculous.

About me today. I saw an old fling today. And got a boner. I shouldn't have screwed that up. fml. Also, went on a "date" today for lunch with another girl. Went alright, but I don't think anything serious is going to come of that

Hello

April 23rd 2009 00:37
Honestly, I really do not have much to say about anything. I am trying to give advice to others. The problem with this? I need advice myself. I do not claim to be an expert in anything, but I do know a little about a lot of things. I have yet to decide the direction of this blog, but it could range from sports to philosophy. One thing I do know, people should read this shit.
