Flashes of memories - MUGABE MUST GO!!! ZIMBABWEANS NEED THEIR HOME BACK

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness - Carl Jung To be at one with God is to be at peace ... peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one's own soul. - Ralph Waldo Trine

chasing clouds on trains of marshmallowed memories

the church steeples rise into the wintery skies who belie the season of spring where daffodils falsely coaxed from their beds lie withered and dying on their stalks too fragile to withstand the icy breath of a witch who poked her warted nose from the pages of a childs fairytale book filled with the pictures only an imagination brewed from the confines of a solitary cell of a mind left to its own devices could conjure up against the white starkness of a page where anything can be etched in pencil to be erased quickly as the footsteps of the warden began to pound on the cobbled street where horses and tired souls dragged their lives to their destination or back to their departure point depending on the eyes they chose to study the passing world with on that particular day

I have to ask, is that your shoe, Ash?

A ridiculous question in the face of your beautiful poetry, but for some reason I just want to know more about the shoe

Thanks K

That was in Ireland, I loved it - one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen!

Hiya Trace

Nah it`s not my shoe I was walking on a beach in Ireland and there it was - I always wonder how people manage to leave a single shoe behind, especially in places like this beach where there are those huge pebbles!

Hi Ash

I always wonder the same thing, even if someone was blind drunk it would still be so painful to walk on this beach with one shoe. So the shoe probably has a story...

Enjoy your holiday!!

Tracy

I dont think its a whole shoe - it looks like just the sole. But yeah, I wondered about it too.

I was more entranced by the sunset caught in the little pool of water though.
10. May 24th 2008 @ 03:23. Tracy Says:
Oh yes, you're right, it's not the whole shoe...silly me...
11. May 24th 2008 @ 03:25. Tracy Says:
Oh but hang on, does that mean that someone walked home without the bottom of their shoe?! That would've been painful...
12. May 24th 2008 @ 03:30. Kleonaptra Says:
Ive done it! Oh, the joys of being poor....
13. May 24th 2008 @ 03:38. Tracy Says:
Oh that would be painful, Kleo...I hope you have a full pair of boots now!!
14. May 24th 2008 @ 09:06. Kleonaptra Says:

I love the imagery of this:
tired souls dragged their lives to their destination or back to their departure point

...maybe the shoe belonged to someone who drowned?

ahhaaaa!! now murder mystery...so now you must do a poem about the lost shoe Ash!! hehe!

Interesting poem too, the way you have jammed it together makes me think of stream of consciousness writing!

cheers

Hiya Ash gurrlish!

Oh! And....the shoe...sorry...I'm like an old record that has hit a rut and keeps repeating...BUT...

what if the shoe is still attached..and the person is actually embedded in the pebbles, head first, maybe having fallen out of an ultra light aircraft (those dangerous open things that seat one person), and is not dead, but semi conscious...in a dreamscape...then to be found...awoken...rescued by you...then wakes up, in bed!

The phone rings, you grogily answer it, to hear an excessively cheery loud voice for seven am;
"You WON! A day trip in an ultra..."

umm...just a thought, I am avoiding writing an article about a topic that depresses me, more nuclear tests..

cheers

hahahahah Fog that`s brilliant! when I get around to doing this post I will post your answer in the comments section. I just have this mental image of this poor person dangling by one leg and looking down into the realm of another world whilst seagulls peck at the sole of his shoe in this one! Classic!!!! Would make an excellent children`s novel I reckon!!!!!!
