Celebrities busted!
September 4th 2008 07:39
With the growth of counterfeiting black market on the rise, branded knock offs have occupied a very special place in the heart of popular culture. Not only they grace the pages of the press and lawsuits, bloggers have also filled their sites with doses of crafty and insightful info on designers clone wars and knock off news that are happening in the market. Having to take a peek at some of the blogs, Magblog has borrowed some of the hottest news in town as the celebrities got busted while tampering with the knock offs. Let’s take a quick preview who are on the lists.
1)As her name suggests, Britney Spears really got speared in real life by Louiss Vuitton for featuring a Vuitton-upholstered dashboard in a car in her music video, Following the success of Vuitton’s lawsuit, Britney record label Sony BMG as well as MTV online were ordered to pay 80, 000 euros each in damages. The video clip was also banned as the court held it has infringed Vuitton’s rights. (dilanchian.com.au)
2)Celine Dion was also busted in photos taken by China’s paparazzi as she purchased her knock offs from Shanghai’s most notorious knock off stores. According to the local media, at least nine packages were handed over to the members of Dion’s entourage. A vendor has admitted that to avoid media attention, many celebrities often frequent the stores and choose their stuffs to be delivered to their hotels rather than taken in person.
3)Next in the headlines is…Rumour has it that Pope Benedict XVI, once described by Time Magazine as one of the top 25 most influential evangelicals in America, was caught red handed while wearing red prada look-alike shoes. The instigator is none other than the media paparazzi who love to dish out any possible dirts that may arise from their potential victims. What’s wrong with a pastor wearing prada look-alike or real prada shoes?
Before letting your imaginations run wild or having your own conclusion, read the articles on fashionista on adventures in copyrights that will give you a wise insight about designers’ clones in the market. Still don’t get it? So, if Mc Donald has first come out with their invention of Mc Chicken burger and then Hungry Jack comes with their signature Whopper burger, as a matter of fact, the former contains deep fried chicken piece while the other contains grilled beef. However, there’s no deny that both are quite similar for having bunch of lettuce, tomato and cucumber slices sandwiched in between the space of sliced sesame seed bun…
So what's the verdict? The media (and always the media that we believe and listen to) confirms that while Devil wears prada, the pope wears prada knockoffs. So, do you think pope is wearing prada knock offs or just prada look alike pair? Have your say! M@gblog
