It seems that the battery in my digital camera is finally giving up so I have to buy a new one. With that in mind I thought that I'd check out the Jessops website and see the cost of one and use the birthday money I've been given to buy a new one (oh yes it's my Birthday today by the way *smiles*). While on their website I notice that it's National Photography Week. All of this week they've had a different day for a different category in Bob's Challenge or there's a general competition Celebrate Summer for the whole week for a years worth of free photos (although I have just been bought a brand new printer so don't really need this but hey photo paper is costly!).
For a laugh I thought I'd enter the Celebrate Summer competition. To enter you simply just pick your five favourite photos that represent summer to you and enter. Easy. Well not quite... I can't narrow it down! Arrrgggghhhh!!! I've got it down to six photos so I thought I'd ask the lovely people of Orble for their input, if they don't mind.
Here are the six photos. If you'd be ever so kind please let me know which five I should enter, or if it's easier the one that I shouldn't enter. I'll love you all even more than what I do. *smiles*
Here are the photos (and yes I know that son of mine is in a lot of them!).
I also thought it would be fun to have our own little Celebrate Summer photo competition but I'll do another post about that.

Well, in my opinion, you should miss out the 'Brrr it's cold' one. Not because it's a bad picture but ... isn't summer supposed to be warm? (Even in England!!)
I really love a couple of these pictures ... the friends one is great ... really encapsulates the idea of friendship, and the 'Run Callum Run' one is just wonderful photography.
Oh, and the one of Callum spraying Daddy with the hose is a classic ... never lose that photo!!!
Lovely photos, Sarah, good luck with the competition.

fabulous photos.. my favourite is 'three best friends'. i love how they have their heads down, walking onto their shadows. and the boy on the right one step behind. boys holding hands in friendship, precious; something they will lose later in life, sadly.
perhaps the pic of your Callum running is the odd one out, as it doesn't have the same vibrant colours that seem to be associated with summer, as your other pics do.
i took some pics in my garden yesterday morning, as the sun's been inviting me out with her warm voice and promise of vitamin d. blossoms gumnuts and my 6 spike orchid.
i made a slideshow at one true media, cause i read Ash's post. I want to exberryment more with it before i post anything i throw together.
good luck with the competition...

Sunflowers and Best of Friends are an absolute must,
I think Daddy will have to go,
I'd replace run Callum run with another one with more sun in it, something that can compare/compete with the sunflower.
How about trying to capture a rainbow in the garden hose spray of water in bright sun. Needs to be closely cropped to cut out clutter.
I do hope I've been helpful. I think too many in the pool is a mistake. The idea of the feet is good but it doesn't quite make competition standard. It could be brilliant.
One of my posts also deals with cameras and prices, this may be helpful, I must have read your mind, I hadn't seen this post when I answered your comment on mine.
Take a lot of care with your new purchase.
If that frustrates you , you can pick up something quite serviceable for about $75, the digital low cost.
Don't purchase based on cost alone.

I'm so sorry I never replied sooner, I don't know where these last few weeks have gone! But then again I don't know where the summer went.
Thank you all so much firstly for the birthday wishes and secondly for the advice and opinions. In the end I entered the feet in the pool one, the one of Callum running off, the best of friends, by accident the one of Callum in the paddling pool (gahh!! LOL) and then another one of Callum that I'm not sure if I've posted here before, it's of him coming down one of those tunnel slides head first pretending to be superman, it is in my opinion a great photo of him.
I looked on the site this week to see who had won (yep not me, but then I didn't expect to, this was just some fun) but the silly people only listed the names and not the photos so you can't actually (well unless you hunt through over 5,000 photos) as far as I can see actually look at the winning photos.
Oh well cie la vie.
Again as always lovely to see you all post and also a thank you to Lily posting, I hope you've had fun with that One True Media, it's sure addictive.
Now to see if I can go and read some of my favourite blogs here.
Love you all.
Sarah. xxx
