Cats n Egypt - Why?

Why are Egyptian cats considered magical? Is there something in their minds or eyes? Is it a twinkle? Or do they help to provide clues to the spiritual realm? Often hairless cats were enjoyed by the Egyptians. They do look a little alien. They at some stage even remind a person of an Egyptian with their big eyes and facial alignment. However is there something more?
