Cars

December 28th 2006 09:41
Please bear with me as I'm not very good at writing film reviews/blurbs but I'm going to try my best.

Cars, what can I say about this film? Beautiful to look at. Catchy songs to hum along to. Fun little jokes for adults. A love story. A story of friendship. And most important of all (well maybe only this is true for my three year old son) is the fact it has in it CARS!

I'm sure some parts of the film are actually real and not animation, surely animation can't be that good. The little details of the light on the cars, the scenery when Lightning and Sally go for a drive, even the grit on the race track. Just amazing.

Some people have told me they didn't like this film, it wasn't what they expected but I've seen this film what must now be going on hundred times (I did mention about the monkey monster of mine and his liking this film didn't I? I'm not sad and sitting at home on my own watching it... honestly) and each time you find another little bit to be in awe over or in love with or laugh at. It's a film for everyone. I think some people thought it was mostly going to be about the racing but as my husband says "It's a love story to Route 66 and that's what makes it special and draws you in."

I don't know what more to say about this film apart from if you haven't seen it please go and watch it. If you love Pixars other films this won't let you down. Also on the dvd watch through the end credits, that gave me a little chuckle.

Well hope this wasn't too naff a review and I'll leave you with what I was told this morning by my son.

"Mummy this is my favourite dvd ever, yep Eeevvveerrrr. I love it."

Hi Sarah

Haven't seen Cars yet ... we've only just managed to get a copy of Ice Age 2 to thrill the children with. I'm sure we'll pick up a copy of Cars sometime before next Christmas.

Even though my son hasn't seen the movie (he's three as well) he still seems to know the names of all the characters. I have no idea how that happned.

Hope you have a great new year, Sarah.

Thank you Katyzzz.

See not all boys do grow up to like cars, my hubby has no feelings what so ever towards them, well actually I lie he does like those little toy Hot Wheel ones so in fact you are right! LOL.

Yesterday my son asked me to help him line up all his cars on his car mat so that they could go to the car wash. It took us about half an hour to line them up he has that many! Oh well.

Hiya Andrea.

Ice Age 2 is a good film, not as memorable as the first one but still good. Your son will love Cars and you'll probably find yourself liking it too. Callum too knew a lot of the names before having seen it, I think it's had that much press coverage and been so huge a thing for kids that they know everything about it.

Here's to a great new year for you and your family too.

Sarah.

Hiya Ash.

Mater is just the cutest! I love it in the film when he says Doc did what in his cup, a definate bit of adult humour there.

We haven't seen Happy Feet or Flushed Away yet, haven't been brave enough to take Callum to the cinema as he'll just most likely run riot, that boy never sits still! I've heard various things about them both, but will check them out when they come out to rent.

Have you seen Over the Hedge? That was quite good.

Hi Sarah,
Yeah I have seen that one too. I watch all the kiddies films, I find them just as entertaining as they are for the adults - in the process of getting 'Ant Bully' now!
Thank goodness for dvd`s hey? I saw a poor mum with her kid the other day and he was SCREAMING and running up and down the aisles. Eventually she had to leave with him as he was making too much noise during the film.
The joys of being a parent *lol*

Hiya Ash.

I'm with you on the kiddies films, love them to bits. My FIL has all the Disney films and loves them himself. You'll have to let me know about the Ant Bully.

That poor mum, we're thinking that maybe this summer for Callum's fourth birthday that we'll attempt the first trip to the cinema, I'm so hoping I don't have the same experience! Sometimes it is easier to just opt for the dvd way of life, less stress, you can pause when you want a bathroom break and all in the comfort of your own home!

*lol* good luck with the cinema trip Sarah! Hope all goes according to plan. Yeah it is great to watch in the comfort of your own home, however something magical about being in a dark cinema.

I prefer all the old classics - Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin etc - all the ones that, as you say, Disney brought out. They were the real fairy tales. These days the cartoons are really well-thought out, the graphics excellent, but I think they lack the magic of the oldies.

*lol* listen to us sitting here chatting kiddies cartoons! haha it is good when the imagination never dies

Have a great day

You're right there, the magic of the cinema has it's own lure. I remember as a kid seeing ET at the cinema with my parents and it's been my favourite film ever since. It's just the magic of it.

The old classics do have that magically element to them don't they? You get all swept up with the story and the romanticism of them, the newer films are more about comedy which isn't bad it just get overdone at times. Bambi still makes me cry when his mother gets killed and Snow White is still a dark and scary movie but there isn't anything out there to replace them.

And hey there's nothing better than sitting chatting about kiddies movies! Makes me feel like sitting down and watching some... maybe a job for tomorrow.

Have a lovely day Ash.
