Apologies
January 30th 2009 16:50
Apologies indeed.
It has been a significant amount of time since my last post, all I can say is that time appears to have got away from me. I have a couple of new writing gigs that have taken up my time, and left very little time for reflection.
So, what's occurring?
Well, JC and Mr J have taken the plunge and committed to putting up with each other full time. That's right, they've moved in together! They have rented this bijou flat off Western Road, and it is simply divine! I'm not sure I've ever seen either of them so happy, which suits us all, as their relationship is something of the bench mark for the rest of us.
Myself? Apart from being so super busy with work, I have acquired a delicious vintage bicycle from a darling little place in Lewes, she's a gem! I have taken her out, despite the chilling Russian winds that are currently blasting our wee town, but am definitely looking forward to the warmer months when I can really get her out on the open road!
And the rest of the urban family? Well, things are pretty quiet on that front (as is often the case in January I feel), but recent events politely entitled "the non-starter" found our gorgeous country bumpkin JK experiencing significant changes since I last wrote. Her poker-straight long hair is a thing of the past, having traded it in for a funkier, choppier 'do', much more in keeping with her new shape. Having gone from Cornish fudge shop to full-time school teacher, she's dropped at least a stone and is looking fab! This new lease of life had definitely affected her confidence, and she confessed that she would really like a man to complement all the other recent changes she has experienced. And thus, JK: The Internet Dater, was born. Sure, she's dabbled before, but with little success, but her new-found zest for life gave her the boost to give it another try. Finding an interested party was child's play.....the rest, however, tells something of a different tale.......
The date was set, a Tuesday night, at a pub near to Jane's house (as well as mine and LB's - safety in location is key in these endeavours). He said he'd text when arriving at the train station, so she wouldn't be sitting like a lemon awaiting his arrival. So, instead, she waited at home for the call........And waited.......And waited. Having never been stood up before, JK was noting if not a little perplexed at the situation she found herself in. So she logged on to see if he'd sent a cancellation message. Quell surprise, there was a message from Mr Internet. In his infinite wisdom, he'd boarded his train neglecting to take with him her telephone number, and thus had arrived at the station with no means of contact. Bless him, he strode to the designated pub regardless, only to find it sans JK, waited a while, then reluctantly re-boarded and returned from whence he came.
Well, if they ever do meet and it works out, it will certainly be one to tell the grandchildren.....!
As time is ticking on, it is with a heavy heart that I bid you farewell, full of promises to not leave it as long for my next installment. Well, fortune favours the brave!
Until then,
CB xx
