Flashes of memories - MUGABE MUST GO!!! ZIMBABWEANS NEED THEIR HOME BACK

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness - Carl Jung To be at one with God is to be at peace ... peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one's own soul. - Ralph Waldo Trine

Can you watch the same movie twice?

There is something about sitting in the dark movie house, the big screen in front of you and the darkness surrounding you while you sip away on your fake coke and munch on your stale popcorn! An excellent place for us who live with our heads in the clouds to visit now and again.
Last night I was getting ready for bed and started my little ritual of getting a DVD to put on before I went to bed. This has been my little relaxation time of the day, getting lost in some great movie or another. I seem to go through phases where I will watch the same one every night for a week and then a different one every night for a month. Even though I can practically rewrite the script on some movies there is still something really great about certain films. My sister cannot understand why I would want to watch the same movie more than once - "What is the point of watching something where you know, not only what will happen but even what they are going to say!?"

I went through a LONG period of Adam Sandler in "Big Daddy" and recently Joshua Jackson has caught my attention in "Shadows of the Sun".
So do you watch the same movie over and over again with an ever-deepening fondness or is that it, once you have watched it it gets ticked off your list and tossed in the bin?

Ash,

When I was single and without children, Blade Runner was one of my favs, still is...(Bryn already knows this)... I still like Sci-fi and watch voyager episodes often along with star wars and others... but life moved on and I diversified to many genre's... my collection of movies is out of control and I am a freak, really... I have collected dozens including all the kids films which I have come to love so much and watch over again and again with them - Ice Age, Scooby Doo, Shrek, Monsters Inc., Treasure Planet... ooh I could go on and on...it's like a national holiday in our house when a part II is coming soon...*lol*

I've obviously mellowed, although I still love Blade Runner every six months or so... Films that I watch over and over have less violence unless the story needs it... on average I think I rewatch most of my movies every six months or so... but to answer your question specifically, the movies I re-watch the most at the moment are;

National Treasure
Lara Croft
Die Hard
Anna & the King (with Jodi Foster)
Seven Years in Tibet
Pride and Prejudice (both versions)
Must Love Dogs
Serendipity
French Kiss
Chocolat
Kate and Leopold
The Princess Bride
Suddenly 30
10 Things I hate About You
A Knights Tale
Master and Commander
Pirates of the Carribean I & II
The Matrix I and II (not too keen on II)
The Time Machine
Timeline
Paycheck
Swordfish
Proof of Life
Thomas Crown Affair
Waterworld
Robin Hood Prince of Theives
Men in Black I & II
Spiderman I and II
ALL Batman's
All the X-men
Legends of the Fall
Troy
Galaxy Quest
5th Element
Star Wars
Lord of the Rings
and lots of Voyager episodes....

I could probably go on, but I won't...*lol* One day I'll probably re-watch all the others too... I haven't seen Shadow's in the Sun but will give it a look now...

What are your other favs.?

Hi KL
Yeah "The Notebook" is great isn`t it? I got the book too! And the same goes for "Big" - the book was just as good at the film (although I read it ages ago so my opinion may have changed over the years.)
You have listed a few there that I havent seen which I will have to go in search of!
Thanks for stopping by
Ash

Ha! I'd forgotten Four Feathers... now I shall watch it again tonight... and yes I forgot under a Tuscan Sun and I quite like Love Actually too... did you catch Hope Springs... it was quite good, but only once every 9 months for that one at the moment...*lol*

Your most welcome round, I'll chill the wine...

ABSOLUTELY, there are some movies I love to watch over adn over - for me it's usually the comedies...my FAVOURITES:
Anchorman the Legend of Ron Burgundy and Zoolander...but there are others that remind you of that "phase in your life" that you were talking about and you watch them to feel or remember whatever you were going through then.
the movie is like a memory trigger, like when you eat foods or smell certain smells!

13. December 10th 2006 @ 22:52. Ash Says:
Hey Vixster!
Ah Zoolander! Yes how could I forget. My cousins and I have a drunken game of pulling Zoolander faces after a night out.I am looking for a copy of "Pure Luck" its an old Martin Short/Danny Glover film that I remember thinking was the most hilarious movie I had ever seen and I cannot seem to find it anywhere. If you get a chance to see it, definitely do so.
Happy watching!

Hey JohnDoe
Thanks for that! There are few there that I will have to keep an eye out for as I don`t recall having seen them.
I agree I sometimes go to the cinema to see a really good movie more than once...and then get the DVD and wear that out too.
Happy viewing

Hi KylieW,
Good of you to stop by. I find it interesting that i encounter people in my daily life who think I am a nutter for watching movies more than once and yet on here I have not had a single comment from someone saying that!
I introduced the Monday Night Movie Club (see next post) and guess what? While you were sleeping is tonight`s show! Good choice, I hope you enjoy!
