Can the law be changed to force this woman to have her tubes tied?

August 1st 2009 23:55
This is one of the most despicable things I have read for ages. This is worse than the Alfie Patten case.

Theresa Winters Baby Machine

This hideous piece of work is so desperate for a child that after having 13 of them taken by child services or death she is going to have a 14th and has sworn that she will keep having them until she can keep one. Now I know that people long for a child, I myself would desperately like to have a child of my own but if my circumstances are so bad the government decides that the first 13 I have should not be in my care for their own safety then I would try and put the babies best interests first and NOT HAVE ANYMORE.

I seriously think the UK government needs to change the law to ensure this woman will not have more babies. Either force her tubes tied or lock her up until she dries up.

Last night brazen baby machine Theresa Winters, 36, vowed to carry on having children until social workers let her and jobless partner Toney Housden, 36, keep ONE.

Defiant Theresa, who lives on benefits in Luton, Beds, declared: "We're not giving up. For every child they take away from me, I'm going to have another one."

Theresa, who has had 13 kids, told The Sun (UK) of her determination after revealing she is expecting her 14th in November.

ALL the children were taken into care by social workers who had grave concerns about neglect and "lack of parenting ability" demonstrated by Theresa and her jobless partner Toney Housden.

But the couple, who admit they had problems and could be "aggressive" in the past, insist they are now capable of raising a youngster.

This is not a story about dictatorial social services denying a mother the right to keep her babies. Theresa and her partner Tony Housden – who is father to 11 of the children – have been told they cannot keep their kids because of concerns about “severe neglect, lack of parenting ability and the consequent risk to any child in their care”.

Even Theresa herself admits that “in one sense” her babies were better off in state care because she turned violent with social workers. Yet here she is again, living off disability benefits, 25 weeks into her 14th pregnancy.

It’s awful enough that this poor baby is doomed to a life of state care, but what really makes me sick with rage is that this child stands a chance of inheriting a genetic degenerative disease that has afflicted three of its siblings and already killed one. Yet even that hasn’t stopped this pig-headed woman from bringing another life into this world.

In her blind state of stupidity and selfishness, Theresa insists she should be allowed to keep the baby she’s carrying because she deserves a “second chance”. Second chance? She had that years ago. This is a 14th chance that should never have happened.

Theresa must be stopped. But how? Her own sister Louise Walls, 37, says Theresa’s baby farming makes her feel physically ill and has begged authorities to make her stop.

“Whenever I have asked her why she keeps getting pregnant when she knows the baby will be taken off her she says, ‘I don’t give a shit – I just want the Government to pay for them,’” says Louise.

Bringing a child into the world to “get back” at the Government should be a crime. Damning a child to a loveless future of neglect and the lottery of care deserves punishment.

Louise believes her sister should be sterilised. That’s a tough call.

I don’t think any human being, no matter how pathologically selfish and thick, should be treated like an animal.

But if something isn’t done to stop her, this baby factory could continue pumping out unwanted kids for the next 10 years.

If sterilisation is too extreme, then a court order to stop her getting pregnant – and a prison sentence if she does – should at the very least be considered.

Louise is an extreme version of what is happening in estates around the country. Plenty of children are born into loving families and to single mothers who do their very best to bring their children up in tough circumstances.

But there are also plenty of babies farmed for the benefits they rake in.

Women like Theresa Winters must be stopped. After 14 pregnancies she’s lost her human right to have a child. It’s about time the human rights of her poor neglected babies came first.

Theresa and Toney, 36, live in a one-bedroom council flat outside Luton, Beds, on benefits totalling £1,100 a month.

The serial mum has been expecting every year of her adult life except 2004 after having her first baby in 1992 - it is too confusing foillowing all their sad stories but they are listed below.

Several of her children were born with disabilities.

But all have been legally adopted except a boy now aged 14 who has cerebral palsy. He remains in foster care which has cost an estimated £2.3million over the past ten years.

Theresa, who has also suffered a miscarriage, had her first child, a girl, in 1992 when she was 19.

The girl, now 17, and a boy now aged 15 were fathered by her first husband Frederick, who she divorced. He later died of cancer.

She then had three boys, now 14, 13 and 12, with Toney.

Two girls now ten and nine, another boy aged eight and a girl of seven followed.

The couple's next baby died at 18 months after he was born with Pheo Syndrome, a rare condition which stops the brain developing properly.

But they went on to have two more girls, now aged three and two. Their last baby, a boy, was born in March 2008.

The first four children were taken away from the parents after their second birthdays.

Social workers took the others, including the boy who subsequently died, within hours of their births.

Two boys have since been diagnosed with Pheo Syndrome. And the seven-year-old girl is blind.

All Theresa and Toney have is a handful of photos of some of the children as tots - and 13 birth certificates.

Personally I think we should go to old school methods and all call her a satanic witch then burn her at the stake! Maybe use her husband as kindling

i dont really understand what is going on in that story, i presume there were more serious reasons than the ones given that caused the state to remove so many children

from her behaviour alone i think it is evident she may have a mental disorder

maybe the state should have worked with her to provide training and assistance rather than just removing the children?

its hard to say without knowing the details, the children may have been at risk of physical harm

maybe they should return all her children to her for one week . . . she might voluntarily stop having babies after that!

I thought I had included it in there - they had extremely violent episodes from what I have read.

maybe they should return all her children to her for one week . . . she might voluntarily stop having babies after that!
I do like this idea though.

There is no evidence suggested that either of them are mentally disabled to but to do this to so many children to me indicates a pathalogical disassociation of morality - gee that one was good - I need a PHD in psych for that line

The state can't be that evil to just take every one of them from the pair without valid reasons - something the sick couple will never discuss on TV and not something the state would ever feel the need to mention.

“severe neglect, lack of parenting ability and the consequent risk to any child in their care”.

just sounds like its not enough to remove children, just feels like their must be more to it . . . the state very very rarely removes children, even in violent abuse cases (unfortunately), so im thinking they must be doing something that they are not declaring to the media

a pathalogical disaccoaition of morality

oooohh very intellectual

I agree it sounds like she has some kind of mental disability. She needs to be stopped though. She needs to try to get her children back instead of trying to keep having babies. Improve upon herself before she continues to reproduce, and maybe they'll let her keep her children.

Very well said Whitney - I think you have summed it up nicely. Thanks for your thoughts.
