Calling All Geeks - One Man Star Wars Opening in Sydney

September 20th 2009 09:15
Thanks to Dan for bringing this to my attention. All geeks, Star Wars fans and theatre lovers!!

One Man Star Wars Charles Ross

Charles Ross's One Man Star Wars opens at the Enmore Theatre on Wed 11th November.

One Actor 40 characters 3 epic films!

In this fast paced show Charles Ross brings to life all the characters from the original Star Wars trilogy live on stage! Imagine Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C3PO and Chewbacca – all on stage, all performed by just one actor. Don’t miss One Man Star Wars returning to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre for one last time before Charles Ross unveils his new One Man Lord Of The Rings in 2010.

“Who would have thought Darth Vader could be so funny” - Sydney Morning Herald

One Man Star Wars Charles Ross

As a Star Wars addict, who has seen the trilogy over 400 times, Ross handles all the characters and special effects himself, without props or costumes to hilarious effect. Charles buzzes like a light sabre, growls like a wookie and whooshes like a millennium falcon as he creates the effects, fights the battles and condenses the plots of all three original films into one action packed show!

Ever since 2002 - when Charles started touring this theatrical oddity - he's been asked questions like: How long do you see yourself doing this show? and Don't you get bored of doing the same show night after night?

The long answer is that since its first tour across the North American Fringe circuit, One Man Star Wars has performed over 1200 times in more than 180 cities across four continents.

From Off-Broadway in New York to London's West End, from Dubai's resorts to the Glastonbury Music Festival - in small towns, big cities, at Lucasfilm's own Star Wars conventions, at fundraisers - this show has been places.

By age ten, he'd seen the first film more than 400 times and committe virtually every line to memory. His obsession eventually spawned the One-Man Star Wars Trilogy, which Ross tours around the U.S., using only his yoga-limber body and knack for voices. He was even tapped by Lucasfilm Ltd. to appear this April at Celebration III, the Star Wars mega bash.

“A frantic universe created by a gifted physical comedian” - The Age

Whether you’re a committed Star Wars fan or simply want to enjoy a fast-paced, side-splitting evening that’s out of this world - One Man Star Wars is a must see!

“Ross is good - very, very good.” Chicago Tribune

400 Times?! Gosh, in this case, Charles Ross is totally eligible as the King of One Man Star Wars, Jason!

How very cruel, it isn't around here anywhere and probably won't be. Jason, watch it once for me too.

Wilson - he is the ONLY One Man Star Wars. The guy is brilliant. Can't wait to see it.

Janice - I will tell you all about it. He is starting the One Man Lord of The Rings next year and no doubt will tour everywhere - keep your eye out. After the massive tour he did for Star Wars he may end up in your area.

Thanks for the comments and have a great day!!!

You are very welcome for the comments, they are my pleasure, I enjoy reading your columns. And I will keep an eye out for the one man Lord of the Rings. Dallas, Houston or Shreveport possibly, if it's Austin or San Antonio it will be too far to make it.

But I'll try.

I definately want to go Morgan!!
Been paying off a million debts but could hopefully buy my ticket in a week or two.
We should get tix and meet there. A few of my friends have all talked about going - whether they do it or not is another thing.
