Marijuana for personal consumption may become legal in California by 2010. There seems to be growing support to legalize pot and tax it to generate revenue to a struggling state.
Supporters are trying to get the vote on a November 2010 ballot.
This after Obama's drug czar calls for end to the War on Drugs. The usual double-talk of not expecting the White House to consider legalizing marijuana means it will probably be up to the states.
