Bullying at school,it's a killer, man

February 6th 2010 15:21
I am saddened to write a blog like this because there are so many young kids out there in schools getting bullied, there are so many young adults with the scars from their bullied years. In Australia last year a young girl of 13 committed suicide, the third such suicide for the school in the Geelong area. She was yet another victim of school yard, and cyber bullying a phenomenon that is costing us the lives of the youth of the world. Bullying has been a major part of my life, and I am sure a lot of other people's lives as well.

I am 25 years old now, I was called various names throughout my time in school and I hated it, I hated going to school but it was not only the students but the teachers as well. While I was in Grade 2 my teacher made a point to tell my parents I would never be a Rhodes Scholar,I was 8 years old and even later in life she was still there to put me down when she marked my work, well I am not a Rhode Scholar, congratulations you were right but her husband who is one, was charged with fraud so I guess it's not really a good thing to be one.

The fact remains that bullying is a health crisis, just ask the poeple of Columbine bullying and mistreatment saw two teenagers go on a murderous rampage and then once they were done they took their own lives. it must also be tough for the bullies who have bullied someone to know what their bullying has done to someone they have driven someone to prefer being dead then to suffer one more day of their bullying.

How does one combat bullying? Well I think that bullies should be shown a video/DVD of what could happen to the people they bully, a documentary done by the Government that has bullied students and those who are bullies share different tales on life, also throw in the stories from the families who have lost a loved one to suicide because of the bullying, if you see that would you really want to bully someone again?

I think that schools need to do more, to prevent this as well, I live in a town that has a bullying problem, the kids are not being punished my brother and sister before we moved here loved school, would go every day, and if you threatened to have them miss a day of school if they are playing up they would see this as a bad thing. School was not a place they hated to be they loved every minute of it. But they came here and the bullying was intense, my sister had her face spat in, and recently she was kicked by a kid older then her.

One of the kids friends too would rather ditch school and walk around here where she feels save than to goto school as well, and being a small town no one is ready to prevent this from happening we are left to see kids picked on tormented and even stabbed. Back in November one kid was roaming around town with a knife ready to stab another kid, this is how bad stuff has gotten.

But no one wishes to prevent the future of the schools here from being full of bullies, and kids leading to suicide, no they would rather allow this to go on, and pretend it does not happen and then when they can vanish from the town and pretending this was just a nightmare, but what about the kids who are going to live here for longer?

Bullies should be made to be accountable for their actions in life, and should be made aware that they are causing people to pick suicide over wanting to grow into a young adult. But once this happens then you start to see another life start to go down the drain, because you start to feel what you have done and you can never recover fully.

But bullying is a killer, it kills you in every possible way, once you are labeled you start to think that this is what everyone feels of you, you start to not exist as yourself anymore, and then what is there for you? Some seem to think if they are what someone says at a young age they will be that forever, well you aren't. You are not to blame for someone bullying you and you shouldn't have to live in fear because someone is going to be there treating you badly.

I hope to one day live in a world where there is no bullying, everyone can live in harmony and be able to treat people as they themselves should be treated. That's the dream isn't it? We may never see this but one can hope.
