Budget Accommodation for International Travellers (LINK)

May 29th 2008 06:22
Okay, if you are travelling for an extended amount of time, you will probably find accommodation will eat into your budget pretty quickly.

So today i would like to introduce a few alternative sources of budget accommodation that is still clean, safe and cosy.

For those of you that arn't keen on staying in shared accommodation i have included a llink to Hotel Club. This website allows you to make hotel reservations World wide at the last minute and at discounted prices. It is also a very handy website as it has facilities for Car Hire, Flights, Hotels and Hostels, Tours and Airport transfers. Not only that you get a rebate into your own account called member dollars that you can accumulate and use to book future accommodation. Its really great i used it for Cancun, Paris, London and Rome. If i am staying at a hotel within Australia i always book with hotel club as it is by far the cheapest and most reliable.

So for those of you that are on a very strict budget and want cheap yet safe and clean accommodation there are a few recommendations i have from personal exprience. A good website for hostels worldwide is www.hostelbookers.com however a better one is www.hostelworld.com as you can use this website to meet people and it also compares customer reviews on each hostel. Definately worth a look.

If you are travelling to New York a good hostel, very central, is the Big Apple hostel. This hostel is located right in the heart of Time Square and is a short walking distance to the shopping district, Central Park, Liberty Ferry Cruise and all public transport. It is also extremely close to the Broadway district. The rate for a dormitory room varies from $39-$50 US depending on the time of year. Obviously times like christmas and New Year is more expensive. Well worth the money though, the hostel is also very secure and there is 24 hour check in. It is also situated right next door to a fantastic Deli, cheap and delicious with the famous NY size slice of Pizza. If you are interested in booking this hostel the website is www.bigapplehostel.com

London, if you are looking for a central hostel at minimal cost and safe a good one is the Generator Hostel. This is located in Russell Square, 2 stops from Leicester Square, and also on the Airport Tube line. The tube station is no more than 3 minutes walking (with suitcases). A handy tip though, if you want to save money book directly through the website because you dont get charged for commission. The website is Really Long Link .

Rome, Italy, Roma Inn hostel is a very cosy and central hostel, the guys that own it are great, very friendly and maybe the nicest people in Rome. However before you book, have a look around hostel world website because you might find something that you like more. It wasn't a definate hostel to stay at, however it was good and very central to everything.

Naples, Italy, i stayed at 6 Small Rooms, this was possibly one of the most relaxed hostels i have ever stayed at. A quiet, friendly hostel run by and Australian family. It was a safe hostel in a very hectic and unsafe city. I dont have very fond memories of Naples, except for the hostel. Lovely people. The website link for this is www.6smallrooms.com .

Singapore, if you want somewhere really cheap, central and just as good as a hotel if not better the place to stay is Spottiswoode Park. This was an exceptional place to stay located in the heart of singapore and in a penthouse. Wow, i loved this place, free internet and your own private room with the cleanest showers and a home cooked breakfast daily.. The staff are wonderful too. The website for this if you want to check it out is http://www.1bnbsingapore.com. Just fantastic.

Anyway hope this was helpful. If you have any questions just leave a comment.

Cheers
