greedy

I am here to have a big moan on behalf of all the young entertainers of every genre who I think need a lot more help than they currently receive. Many of these people have usually spent years honing their skills in dingy halls and competitions and if they stick it out and have the talent you would think they would have somewhere to go. WRONG. How many bloody great big clubs do we have in Sydney, heaps, and do they provide thier venues or their support to most of these talented people. That would be a big NO!!
They will argue this point and tell you they provide entertainment all week long and are big supporters of Australian entertainers. But when are they going to provide alternatives to country music, old has-been overseas acts and others that have been around forever. With the amenities they have, they could be doing a lot more. I do know what I am talking about. I have a son who has been singing since the age of nine and he is one of the lucky ones, he is the lead singer in a jazz band who are doing very well and getting lots of work. But even a band this good does a lot of shows in dingy little pubs because there are no other venues. At least that is what the clubs would have you believe.
They have massive showrooms, bands, and great facilities that are left half empty on a regular basis because they are making enough money off the people who pour their weekly wages through their poker machines!! They have become just another organisation run by bloody greedy businessmen like all the other businesses in Sydney. They should hang their head in shame.
You can't tell me that they couldn't put a brilliant showcase together on a regular basis and advertise it properly where a large audience can see what's on offer. Do you ever see an ad on TV in prime time, advertising an outstanding show at a Sydney club. NO. The ads, if they are on at all will be shown at midnight with tacky performers and brightly lit poker machines!! Meanwhile these great facilities are not being used as they should be. If they want more customers provide something for everyone because believe me there are some astounding entertainers out there waiting for somewhere decent to strut their stuff.
