Heroes

June 9th 2011 12:23
I just read in the paper where one of my heroes has passed away. James Arness has moved on ,hopefully to be with the creator of all.

Better known as Marshall Matt Dillon. I remember turning the tv on Saturday nights to watch Gunsmoke. Laying on the floor watching the opening gun duel that Marshall Matt Dillon never lost. Then we would get ready for the famous line from his Deputy, Chester "Mr. Dillon, Mr.Dillon". Then over to Miss Kitty's establishment to catch up on the latest news about bad guys and how to rid the town of these evil gunslingers. A few educated remarks from Doc and Marshall Matt would be set in motion. He would have a sasparilla on the way to ridding the town of those notorious bad guys.

I never saw Marshall Matt Dillon drink anything stronger than coffee or sasparilla, engage in foul language or put a move on a damsel, although I think him and Miss Kitty were pretty chummy.

If we study the Book of John there is another hero here who will be with us forever. Take time to to get closer to to him. Mortal man and heroes eventually go there way but Jesus promises to be by our side during the good and the bad. Let's have a sasparilla on that.

Flowers

June 9th 2011 10:51
My lovely wife is a flower fanatic. I believe she would rather be out there with her blooming plants than anywhere else. Seems like every time she returns home from a Walmart run the car is full of more flowers. Maybe not full but taking its share of space. I keep telling her she needs a truck with all the plants she seems to come across. If they are not purchased somebody has gave her a trunk full. The trunk of the car looks like a bedding area. Grass, straw, leaves, and potting dirt.
All the above is probably half exaggeration, maybe less. Anyway she has been blessed with a green thumb and I've been blessed by having her as my wife and friend.
Back to the plants. Not only does she have amazing talent for growing but also for healing. Set aside on our drive way is a special place which is called the hospital. All the sickies are placed here for special care. I've seen many patients from here just suddenly spring back to life. If it had been left up to me they would have ended up in the trash pile. I guess that's why she's in charge of plants and flowers and I'm delegated to lawn boy.
Matthew6:28-29 Jesus tells his disciples not to worry about so much, God takes care of us like the flowers in the field. He even goes on to say that not even Solomon was taken care like the lilies. That's heart stopping. Just by trusting in Him we will be provided for all that we need. Take time today to get closer to him

Life

June 2nd 2011 20:21
Sometimes in our life here on earth we tend to let little things get us down physically, mentally and also spiritually. We get in a hole and spend our awaken moments trying to dig ourselves out. What happens usually is that little hole suddenly becomes so much bigger than us. We've exhausted all our resources trying to make things better but we find ourselves backing up. Sometimes things might get a little easier to face but after awhile we're right back in that old nasty hole.
What we need is a strong backup plan. God offers us that plan when he sent his Son to comfort and protect us. All he ask is for us to seek him out.
There are some in my family and yours that willingly or unwillingly can not grasp the Love that that Jesus wants to share with us. We will continue to love them and pray that they will see one day.
My friends above have have only one problem. When do we eat next or how many bugs can I can I catch today.

Agnes and Harvey

May 31st 2011 21:33
We have two friends that seem to be around us all the time. First thing in the morning they are there wanting something from us. I go outside and lo and behold there they are. Get in my truck to run errands and they are climbing in. Get ready for a meal, guess what? They want to grub down also. Head for the boat and they almost knock us down getting in. We can't even go for a walk unless they tag along.
God has blessed us with many dear and close friends but these two have taken advantage of the situation. They really have gone overboard with kindness and working to be #1 in our lives. I recon we'll have to live with it. They won't go away.

Isaiah

May 27th 2011 10:55
Isaiah 1:2 Hear O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the Lord hath spoken. I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. Does this sound familiar? We are in the midst of rebellious times. Watch the news, read the paper, observe the people around us visit the schools. Lots of negativity. We need revival for our nation. Lets all pray together for healing of our country. God is so good to us.
