Heroes

I just read in the paper where one of my heroes has passed away. James Arness has moved on ,hopefully to be with the creator of all.
Better known as Marshall Matt Dillon. I remember turning the tv on Saturday nights to watch Gunsmoke. Laying on the floor watching the opening gun duel that Marshall Matt Dillon never lost. Then we would get ready for the famous line from his Deputy, Chester "Mr. Dillon, Mr.Dillon". Then over to Miss Kitty's establishment to catch up on the latest news about bad guys and how to rid the town of these evil gunslingers. A few educated remarks from Doc and Marshall Matt would be set in motion. He would have a sasparilla on the way to ridding the town of those notorious bad guys.
I never saw Marshall Matt Dillon drink anything stronger than coffee or sasparilla, engage in foul language or put a move on a damsel, although I think him and Miss Kitty were pretty chummy.
If we study the Book of John there is another hero here who will be with us forever. Take time to to get closer to to him. Mortal man and heroes eventually go there way but Jesus promises to be by our side during the good and the bad. Let's have a sasparilla on that.
