So here's a cracker. A bunch of motor heads in Sweden in conjunction with the Church of Sweden are offering a drive through wedding. So you'd think maybe who would be interested in this? Funnily enough they've apparently got at least 36 couples lined up to tie the knot, drive through style, in seven minutes.

This is just hilarious but instead of something like this drive through wedding business being an isolated case, I fully expect to see similar services crop up all over the world...no doubt mostly in Las Vegas.

“I do...and I'll have a side of fries with that.”

But why stop there? We need more drive through services. I'm thinking the Church could start cashing in on a drive through baptism, christening, first holy communion and a host of other Church services could all be offered drive through.

And it's not just the Church who could benefit from a drive through service. How about drive through cosmetic surgery and liposuction? You could just sit there eating crap food while they suck out your fat and trim back your thighs.

Or maybe even a drive through eye exam, or a drive through dental checkup? Yeah! And for all those who hate Christmas gatherings, what about a drive through Christmas dinner? You know I could see this taking off.

I wonder how long it will take them to create the drive through divorce service?

Where's the love?

June 17th 2008 23:55
Seems today that nobody has a heart anymore. Or more specifically…no company seems to care about the welfare of their customers.

What’s really pissed me off today is that some friends of mine received a letter of termination for their rental agreement. They’ve been in this house for 6 months and according to them, they've been well ahead with their rent for 5 of those months. This, it would seem, counts for absolutely nothing in the age of computerized account managers.

The second they slipped behind in their rent and knew that they would be behind, they rang the real estate to let them know. Thinking, I guess, that this would be ok. Surely the real estate agent can understand that a young family with a new baby will encounter a ‘rough patch’ financially. Surely the agent would understand and cut them a little slack? The short answer? No.

After speaking with the agent who demanded their last pennies be put towards the rent to stop him sending out a termination notice, they went ahead and did just that. They put all of their remaining money for food and bills into the rent and rang the agent to let him know. You think this would be ok? Obviously not.

Two days later they received the termination notice in the mail with a friendly phone call explaining that ‘oh it’s just a formality to cover our ass legally’. How does go and get f#@!”*#(d sound?

As a result, this young family will now have this notice on their permanent rental record which will most likely prevent them from gaining easy access to rental properties in future. Thanks guys. What big hearts you have. All the better to eat you with.

This is not just common practice in real estate but also in telecommunications, electricity and any other creditor you could think of. The world is now being run by accountants and they seem to think that because they’re so great with money that everybody else should be too.

My friends are not from a low socio-economic background. They’ve never had problems with bills before. They don’t live a lavish lifestyle and squander their resources on frivolous indulgences. Why has this happened?

If it were even 10 years ago somebody would have cared. Their estate agent or landlord would have said ‘oh that’s ok as long as you bring it up to date when you can’ or ‘is there anything we can do to help?’ No longer are your service providers here to help my friends. They want to provide as little service as possible for the maximum profit that can be squeezed out of their customers. That’s business for you.

In the great school of capitalism that’s what we’re taught. Sell the cheapest product you can find for the most inflated profit you can get and congratulations! You will become Mr. Monopoly.

So I propose a month where we all tell big business to get stuffed and we don’t pay our bills to show them how much they need us more than we need them. They can’t possibly disconnect all of us at once now can they?

Or can they?

Public transport should be free

June 3rd 2008 04:58
Now as far as I am aware, I pay for public transport in my taxes. Explain to me please then why I have to pay to use this service for wich I've already apparently paid?

Most responses lean towards the idea of a user pays system. The idea being that if you don't use public transport then you don't have to pay for any more than the amount put aside in tax and instead your revenue goes towards exciting and personal things like cars and roads which continue to wreak havoc on our communities, wildlife and environment.

My flatmate is a dickhead

June 3rd 2008 04:46
Yeah I know we've all heard a few stories about the flatmate from hell and most of us have probably experienced some form of co-habitation rage but I've got to tell you how much of a dickhead my flatmate is.

I'm serious. This guy is fucked.

Seriously. State funded sedation is what I'm talking about here. Actually, it shouldn't be state funded at all. The dumb fucks should pay for it themselves.

And ok... maybe we should offer them a chance to relocate first. And then if they continue to be difficult then we can just shaft them with the tranquillizers.
