Chopper

Yes, the man of infomy, in a world of killing and drugs. He's an Aussie legend, you could even call him a myth, either way, Mark 'Chopper' Reid's life makes for one hell of a story, and this is captured in the classic Aussie film, 'Chopper'.

As the tagline suggests, Don't let the truth get in the way of a good yarn. This sums up all that is great with our society, just as this film reflects what is great about the Australian film industry. We all love telling a tale that stretches the truth, but for the Author and inspiration for the film, Mark 'Chopper' Reid, the yarn is just the punchline for all that he reveals.

Eric Bana plays the larger than life Chopper, and in my personal opinion pulls of the persona with perfection. From the opening scenes, you can already tell Bana has made Chopper an instant classic, and who can go past such classic lines as, "Keithy's done himself a mischief", when he stabs a fellow inmate?

Eric Bana as Mark 'Chopper' Reid

The film shows rare chunks of brilliance with well thought out Aussie 'ocker' humour, and moments of terror, which can be seen throughout the film. His run-ins with cops and drug dealers, make him the unsung hero of the underground wasteland that is Australia. No one in their right mind could hate Chopper in this film, he is the 'hero' Australia needs, dare I say, the world needs, after all he's tackling the drug world head-on.

This is not a movie for the kiddies, its a through and through slice of adult entertainment, that by Australian standards, should not dissapoint. This is my diamond in the rough, and with any luck, we could see more movies that capture the true 'ocker' in us all!

Gday!

A big hello to u if your reading this blog!! To begin, as i am an Aussie, I think i should pay homage to the best, and indeed, the worst of Australian Cinema. Based on my experiences, the industry is as dead as anything, but of course, theres always a gem. I love Aussie films, mainly because they are the underdog of the worlds film industry, and you gotta love an underdog right?

I won't just look at Aussie films though, of course, I want to share my comments on films from around the world... I hope my blogs don't dissapoint, this is my first attempt at blogging for films, and I figured I'd do it, because I always have an opinion about films!
