Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets

November 15th 2012 11:26
Recap from last night: If you got the total in the Utah and Boston game at 191 you got a push if you got where I got at 193 then it was a loss. It has been a struggle to start the NBA season for me I am now 3-9 – 6.9 units. I am going to keep plugging away since I know I will get out of this slump I am in. Here is what I like tonight.

Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets

Current Line: Brooklyn – 3
Current O/U line: 192

Boston enters tonight’s match up winning three straight and five of their last six contests in which they have gone 2-3-1 the last six games.

Boston’s offense has been the strength to this team over the last six games. Over the last six games Boston is averaging 97.3 points per game in which they have scored 96 or more in five of those six games. The offense is led by Paul Pierce (19.8 PPG, 6.1 RPG), Kevin Garnett (15.2 PPG, 8.1 RPG) and Rajon Rondo (14.2 PPG, 12.5 APG). Boston is averaging 46.8% field goal percentage this season ranking them 5th in the league but the rebound for Boston has been an issue in which they average just 46.1 rebounds per game ranking them dead last in the league.

On the defensive side of the ball this season Boston is allowing 98.1 points per game but that has dropped to 93.3 points per game the last three games which means we could be starting to see the old Boston defense come back to life. Opponents have shot 44.9% from the field against Boston this season and 37.4% from beyond the arc. Boston is allowing opponents to average 50.6 rebounds per game this season.

Brooklyn enters tonight’s contest winning three straight in which they look to grab some redemption on this Boston team that swept the seasons series from them last season.

Brooklyn enters this game averaging 96.5 points per game which has jumped up to 101 points per game the last three games. Leading the way for Brooklyn’s offense is Deron Williams (17.7 PPG, 7.7 APG), Brook Lopez (17.5 PPG, 6.7 RPG) and Joe Johnson (15.5 PPG, 3.2 RPG). Brooklyn this season is shooting 45.4% from the field but has struggled at times beyond the arc where they are shooting 33.6% from the field and just 70.6% from the free throw line.

The defense being played by Brooklyn has been the strength to this team thus far. Brooklyn is allowing 92.2 points per game this season which is down from their 99.1 average last season. Over the last three games the Nets have allowed just 81 points per game in which opponents have shot just 40.8% from the field in those three games against the Nets. Brooklyn’s weakness on defense has been opponents shooting 45% from the field against them this season. One of the strengths to Brooklyn’s defense has been the amount of rebounds opponents are averaging against them. Brooklyn ranks 2nd in the league allowing just 47.3 rebounds per game which has to do with the inside play of Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries who have both hit the boards hard this season for the Nets.

Both of these teams are playing very good basketball right now. Boston has really come around after starting the season 0-2 while Brooklyn is starting to show that adding Joe Johnson to this team was a smart move. I really like the inside play by Brooklyn this season which they will have the size advantage on this Boston team tonight. Boston will bring bettors to the window and there is a reason why Brooklyn is favored against Boston for the first time in a long time. I am going to ride with the odds makers and take the home team minus the points in this game.

Brooklyn -3 for 1 unit.

If you are not into betting on games then try some daily fantasy basketball games. It has been a fun start to the season for Daily fantasy basketball. Here are a few things you want to look at when setting your daily fantasy basketball lineup: When choosing a player look at what his opponents are averaging in each category defensively. Example being Charlotte is the worst team in the league for allowing opponents to rebound the ball and sit in the bottom six for points per game allowed. Last night Andrei Kirilenko would have been a solid play. Kirelenko scored 26 points last night against Charlotte with 12 rebounds he also had 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks with 5 turnovers though. His final scoring was 41 points on which was well worth what is price tag was. Over the next few days I will throw some other things out there for anyone who plays daily fantasy basketball and put some players that I like for those evenings games.
