Books to be Afraid of

"Pure” by Terra Elan Mcvoy
Lady Diazepam just finished reading “Pure”, a novel about a Christian teen American girl who wears a purity ring to symbolise her vow to remain chaste until she marries. (I’m researching the Young Adult fiction market.) Somehow, I don’t think I’ll be keeping this book. Just for fun, I’m going to leave it in the waiting room of the Taylor Square Private Clinic, a surgery catering mainly to gay men and transgender people.
“How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie
Saw this on my boss’s desk, with a “Thanks” post-it note from whoever borrowed from him. I’m worried because:
-I thought my boss was a genuinely nice guy, not someone pursuing a “how to be a slimy manipulator” agenda
-I think I know who borrowed the book. God help us if he gets better at influencing people…
