If you are an aspiring writer, you have probably wondered what it is that makes the bestsellers so good. There are a lot of things that many successful stories share. One thing is that they have some interesting characters. These characters are actually memorable and are living breathing characters as opposed to caricatures

Another thing to go for is the relationships. Characters have to have some interesting relationships and they must go through events that change them as they go along. They can't stay the same.

One thing that will keep the audience's attention is unpredictability. If you can get the audience to wonder what is going to happen next and fail to guess at it, this will make your story that much better. Originality does not hurt either.

Writing a Selling Story

October 7th 2011 01:57
The key in writing something that is going to be a best seller is a combination of concept, characters, relationships, story elements as well as certain styles of language.

What you want to do is create a story with an idea that is great, but is not so complicated that you lose the audience. You also want to create some interesting characters that people can relate to. These characters must also have some interesting relationships that will change the characters.

The character must have some conflict that will keep the audience interested. The conflict has to be such that it is very possible for the character to fail. However, it can't be out of proportion. For instance, you do not want to pit a 5'7" couch potato up against a 7'2" mixed martial artist.

These are some of the tips that will help you with your storytelling.

Dealing with a Block in Writing

October 7th 2011 00:51
Sometimes we will reach that point when we do not know what to write. It is frustrating. The good news is that there are many ways to deal with this. One way to deal with it is by taking a break.

Then you can just get your mind flowing again. Ways of doing this include watching TV, going out and observing society, reading, having conversations with your friends and other activities.

You will never know what is going to spark some kind of inspiration for your writing. All you have to do is get your creative juices flowing again. Sometimes you just have to take a rest.
