Bon-Jones-o Eddie: Former Wallabies Coach Is A Wanted Man
July 16th 2007 01:09
Well...and here I thought Eddie Jones (former Brumbies and Wallabies coach and about to be former Qld Reds coach) was pasta his prime but...others still want a pizza the action...

Mentor? From sacked coach to mentor?
My. How the fallen have martyr-ed....
The above quote really worries me. Not because these countries think that Eddie might have something worthwhile to teach them but because September 7 is not too far away and I have to get this blog cracking!
...and that has nothing to do with his dummy spitting and the fact that no matter who plays for them and who coaches them...the Reds just plain suck.
They have had some of the greatest Australian...world...Rugby players - John Eales, Toutai Kefu, Ben Tune, David Croft, Dan Crowley, Elton Flatley, David Wilson, Tim Horan, Jason Little, Michael Lynagh, to name a few...and still...they suck.
Okay. Stop the presses.
Eddie may be an idiot but he is not a vindictive anonymous blogger.
If he does "link with a rival country" it would be because the man does still need a job and, in Australia, he's burned his britches and got too big for his bridges and yes I know it's the other way around but my way makes more sense (cue: Frank Sinatra) so he needs to look elsewhere.
Eddie Jones does not "want to bring the Wallabies undone". That's crazy talk. He doesn't have the ability to do so. If he did, the Reds would have trounced the Brumbies.
...and more importantly, Eddie loves The Wallabies. It's the ARU he hates.
Oh like that's a rare thing.
Latest reports say that Eddie Jones has turned down the Italians.
It's all that high carb food.....

Eddie Jones has downplayed chances of coaching against Australia at the Rugby World Cup despite Italy being the fifth nation to show interest in the former Wallabies mentor.

The Azzurri have followed the likes of Japan, England, Fiji and Samoa to sound out Jones to assist them in the tournament, which kicks off in France on September 7.

But the former Australia, Brumbies and Queensland coach today said he was unlikely to play any part at the World Cup.
Jones, who took the Wallabies to extra-time in the 2003 final, leaves Australia next week for London where he will link with powerful English club Saracens as a coaching consultant.
The move comes after quitting as Queensland Reds coach one year into his three-year deal at Ballymore.

There's been speculation Jones, axed as Test coach in 2005, would link with a rival country and possibly plan to bring the Wallabies undone.

Australia are scheduled to play both Fiji and Japan in pool matches and likely to meet England in a quarter-final.
Jones today confirmed he'd had talks with Italy, coached by Frenchman Pierre Berbizier.
"We've had a few chats but I don't think it's going to lead anywhere," he said.
"There's about four or five (interested) but at this stage I don't think I'll do anything."

While he didn't completely rule out a RWC job, Jones said his priority was to get his family settled in England and fulfill his duties with Saracens*.
"That may change but at this stage I don't think I'll be doing anything."
