Bohemian RnB

Now I understand that this concept can be hard to grasp, being the mianstream attitude of RnB that people face through the radio, TV and nightclubs that still promote the genre. But if you think about it, there's bound to be people out there that struggle with being apart of the mainstream - and therefore create their own form of RnB.
"Afro-pean Soul" is an important part of the movement, the most eccentric to my knowledge being a Belgian group by the name of Zap Mama. They started off doing acapella, using their voices in harmony without the help of instruments. Possibly the most popular song they have done was with instruments, collaborating with Erykah Badu in 2004.
From the album 'Ancestry In Progress':
Another group, popular in France, who will always stand out in my mind as leaders of the genre are Les Nubians. Their first album 'Princesses Nubiennes' came out in 1998 and lead them to an understated International success.
Taken from the 2003 album 'One Step Forward':
The other major player in this game is Erykah Badu, but due to her popularity I don't think it is necessary to mention her here. Regardless, I am a fan of this genre - and indeed there could not be such a concept as Bohemian Hiphop without the original RnB version.
Respect where its due.
