Bob Dylan Days
September 2nd 2007 06:32
Recently I was reading an article in the New York Times about "I'm Not There", a film about the life of Bob Dylan set to be released in November at select theaters. The film follows seven characters, each embodying a different aspect of Dylan's life story and music. It's the first biographical feature project to secure the approval of the pop culture icon. The film is about the life of Bob Dylan's early days as a struggling folksinger, the rise to the forefront of the early-'60s folk scene, the controversial switch to rock, the motorcycle accident and the subsequent retreat from public view, and the latter-day de-emphasis of recording and concentration on the concert series known as the Never Ending Tour.
Each story expresses an aspect of Dylan's mercurial personality and each story is to be filmed differently, in a style appropriate to its theme:
Ben Whishaw as Robbie - a womanising performer, always on the road
Cate Blanchett as Jude a young androgynous rock star
Christian Bale as the late-’70s born-again Dylan, playing characters named John and Jack sermonizing about Christ
Heath Ledger as Bob Dylan himself
Marcus Carl Franklin plays an 11-year-old black boy, Woody who was always on the run;
Richard Gere: as the famous outlaw Billy, miraculously alive but growing old
Today was a Bob Dylan day.... dreamy, folksy, and nostalgic so I was listening to my iPod grouping of some of my favorite Bob Dylan covers
Knockin' on Heaven's Door: Guns N Roses
All Along the Watchtower: Jimi Hendrix

Wicked Messenger: The Black Keys

I hope this is more intriguing than the Martin Scorcese doco on Bob Dylan. I really struggled to watch it. But I wanted to learn about Dylan.
Dylan...the man can't sing but damn he can certainly write a song.
Love & stuff

This sounds like a great movie to watch out for. I love the lyrics to Dylan`s songs. My music teacher had this infatuation with him so we learnt a lot of his songs at guitar practices! Great music.

So good to see you. Music teachers don't realize the impact that they have on their students. Hope you liked studying Dylan. I am really looking forward to this movie!
